Important Matchups In This Week’s Local Regional Semifinals

Destination Tallahassee continues this week in south Florida with Round 2 of the state football playoffs.

The state playoffs will showcase which programs paid the dues in May, June and July for the fruits that are paying off here in November.

The entire season, we have given you the top teams in Miami-Dade and Broward, and we will continue to bring you rankings right through the state championship games.

Here is a look at how the teams stack up in week two of the state playoffs:

1. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1M, 10-0). LAST WEEK: The Lions were off. THIS WEEK: Home game against Hollywood Avant Garde (5-5) NEXT WEEK: Winner of the North Palm Beach Benjamin (8-2) or No. 2 West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman (8-1) contest.

2. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (3M, 10-1). LAST WEEK: The Raiders beat Plantation, 61-6. THIS WEEK: No. 4 Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (9-2). NEXT GAME: The winner or No. 7 West Boca Raton (9-2) at No. 3 Coconut Creek (9-2).

3. Miami Norland (2M, 11-0). LAST WEEK: The Vikings beat Miami St, Brendan in the first round of the state playoffs, 55-0. THIS WEEK: No. 4 Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace (7-4), Thursday. NEXT WEEK: The winner of No. 3 Miami Booker T. Washington (9-2) or No. 2 Miami Central (7-3).

4. Miami Central (2M, 7-3). LAST WEEK: The Rockets opened the state playoffs with a 31-13 win against Miami Edison. THIS WEEK: A rematch with No. 3 Miami Booker T. Washington (9-2). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 4 Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace (7-4) or No. 1 Miami Norland (11-0).

5. Homestead (3M, 9-1). LAST WEEK: The Broncos opened things up with a 52-27 win against Hollywood McArthur. THIS WEEK: A rematch with No. 4 Miami Southridge (7-4). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 7 Belen Jesuit (5-6) or No. 3 Miramar (7-4).

6. Plantation American Heritage (2M, 8-1). LAST WEEK: The Patriots got off to a great start, beating Coconut Creek North Broward Prep, 63-13. THIS WEEK: No. 4 West Palm Beach The King’s Academy (9-2). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 6 Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian (8-3) or No. 2 Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (8-3).

7. Miami Palmetto (4M, 9-1). LAST WEEK: The Panthers beat Doral Academy, 21-7. THIS WEEK: No. 3 Davie Western (8-3) NEXT WEEK: The winner of No. 4 Homestead South Dade (8-3) or No. 1 Miami Christopher Columbus (9-2).

8. Miami Christopher Columbus (4M, 9-2). LAST WEEK: The Explorers took care of Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman, 49-6. THIS WEEK: No. 4 Homestead South Dade (8-3). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 3 Davie Western (8-3) or No. 2 Miami Palmetto (9-1).

9. Miami Booker T. Washington (2M, 9-2). LAST WEEK: The Tornadoes beat North Miami Beach, 34-8, to open the state playoffs. THIS WEEK: A rematch against four-time defending state champion No. 2 Miami Central (7-3). NEXT GAME: The winner gets either No. 4 Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace (7-4) or No. 1 Miami Norland (11-0).

10. Coconut Creek (3M, 9-2). LAST WEEK: The Cougars started the playoffs with a 42-6 win against Sunrise Piper. THIS WEEK: A rematch against No. 7 West Boca Raton (9-2). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 4 Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (9-2) or No. 1 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (10-1).

11. Davie Western (4M, 8-3). LAST WEEK: The Wildcats started the state playoffs with a 51-0 win against district rival Weston Cypress Bay. THIS WEEK: A huge road game against No. 2 Miami Palmetto (9-1). NEXT WEEK: The winner gets No. 4 Homestead South Dade (8-3) or No. 1 Miami Christopher Columbus (9-2).

12. Coconut Creek Monarch (4M, 9-2). LAST WEEK: The Knights opened the playoffs with a 40-7 win against Parkland Douglas. THIS WEEK: No. 4 Lantana Santaluces (8-3). NEXT WEEK: The winner gets either at No. 6 Boca Raton (7-4) or No. 2 Wellington Palm Beach Central (9-2)

13. Miramar (3M, 7-4). LAST WEEK: The Patriots started the post season with a 23-0 win against Hialeah American. THIS WEEK: A home game against No. 7 Belen Jesuit (5-6). NEXT WEEK: The winner gets No. 4 Miami Southridge (7-4) or No. 1 Homestead (9-1).

14. Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (3M, 9-2). LAST WEEK: Beat rival Dillard for the second time in a week, 35-12. THIS WEEK: No. 1 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (10-1) on the road. NEXT WEEK: No. 7 West Boca Raton (9-2) or No. 3 Coconut Creek (9-2).

15. Homestead South Dade (4M, 6-3). LAST WEEK: The Bucs went on the road and beat Pembroke Pines West Broward, 43-31. THIS WEEK: On the road again at No. 1 Miami Christopher Columbus (9-2). NEXT WEEK: No. 3 Davie Western (8-3) or No. 2 Miami Palmetto (9-1).

16. Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (2M, 8-3). LAST WEEK: The Chiefs won their opening game of the state playoffs, 42-12, against Fort Lauderdale Stranahan. THIS WEEK: No. 6 Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian (8-3). NEXT WEEK: No. 4 West Palm Beach The King’s Academy (9-2) or No. 1 Plantation American Heritage (8-1).

17. Miami Southridge (3M, 7-4). LAST WEEK: The Spartans began the state playoffs with a win against Hialeah, 48-23. THIS WEEK: No. 1 Homestead (9-1) on the road for the second time this year. NEXT WEEK: No. 7 Belen Jesuit (5-6) or No. 3 Miramar (7-4).

18. Miami True North Classical Academy (1M, 8-2). LAST WEEK: The Titans were off. THIS WEEK: A Thursday home game against No. 4 Miami Westminster Christian (5-5). NEXT WEEK: No. 3 Miami Palmer Trinty (6-3) or No. 2 Miami Archbishop Carroll (9-1).
