Top Teams Head To State Playoffs

It’s finally here. Playoffs!

The destination is Tallahassee, and it all starts this Thursday across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

An off season of camps, combines, 7-on-7 events and other sacrifices made to getting better on top of months and months of showing up to play each week during the season.

The state playoffs will now show which programs paid the dues in May, June and July for the fruits that are paying off here in November.

The entire season, we have given you the top teams in Miami-Dade and Broward, and we will continue to bring you rankings right through the state championship games.

Here is a look at how the teams stack up in week one of the state playoffs:

1. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1M, 10-0). LAST WEEK: The Lions finished off the regular season unbeaten with a 57-0 win at St. Petersburg Lakewood. THIS WEEK: Home game against Hollywood Avant Garde (5-5) NEXT WEEK: Winner of the North Palm Beach Benjamin (8-2) or No. 2 West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman (8-1) contest.

2. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (3M, 9-1). LAST WEEK: The Raiders were off. THIS WEEK: Plantation (6-4). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 5 Fort Lauderdale Dilliard (5-5) at No. 4 Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (8-2).

3. Miami Norland (2M, 10-0). LAST WEEK: The Vikings ended the regular season unbeaten with a 54-0 win against Miami Killian. THIS WEEK: A first round state playoff game against No. 8 seed Miami St. Brendan on Thursday. NEXT WEEK: The winner of No. 5 Pinecrest Gulliver Prep (7-3) or No. 4 Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace (6-4).

4. Miami Central (2M, 6-3). LAST WEEK: The Rockets spent the final week off. THIS WEEK: A first round state playoff contest against No. 7 Miami Edison (6-4). NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 6 North Miami Beach (4-6) orNo. 3 Miami Booker T. Washington (8-2).

5. Homestead (3M, 8-1). LAST WEEK: The Broncos had the final week of the season off. THIS WEEK: Will play host to No. 8 Hollywood McArthur (5-4) in the opening round of the state playoffs. NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 5 Hialeah (9-1) or No. 4 Miami Southridge (6-4).

6. Plantation American Heritage (2M, 7-1). LAST WEEK: The Patriots were off. THIS WEEK: No. 8 Coconut Creek North Broward Prep (5-5) in the opening round of the state playoffs. NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 5 Boynton Beach Somerset Canyons (7-3) or No. 4 West Palm Beach The King’s Academy (8-2).

7. Miami Palmetto (4M, 8-1). LAST WEEK: The Panthers ended the regular season with a 47-on win against Miami Beach. THIS WEEK: No. 7 Doral Academy (5-4) in the opening round of the state playoffs. NEXT WEEK: The winner of No. 6 Weston Cypress Bay (8-2) or No. 3 Davie Western (7-3)

8. Miami Christopher Columbus (4M, 8-2). LAST WEEK: The Explorers were off for the final week of the season. THIS WEEK: No. 8 Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman (5-4) to open the post season. NEXT GAME: The winner of No. 5 Pembroke Pines West Broward (7-3) or No. 4 Homestead South Dade (7-3)

9. Miami Booker T. Washington (2M, 7-2). LAST WEEK: The Tornadoes had the final week off. THIS WEEK: No. 6 North Miami Beach (4-6) in the first round of the state playoffs. NEXT GAME: No. 7 Miami Edison (6-4) or No. 2 Miami Central (6-3).

10. Coconut Creek (3M, 8-2). LAST WEEK: Bye week. THIS WEEK: No. 6 Sunrise Piper (6-4) in the first week of the state playoffs. NEXT GAME: No. 7 West Boca Raton (8-2) or No. 2 Delray Beach Atlantic (9-1).

11. Davie Western (4M, 7-3). LAST WEEK: The Wildcats remained hot with a 34-14 win over Plantation. THIS WEEK: No. 6 Weston Cypress Bay (8-2) in the opening round of the state playoffs. NEXT WEEK: No. 7 Doral Academy (5-4) or No. 2 Miami Palmetto (8-1).

12. Coconut Creek Monarch (4M, 8-2). LAST WEEK: The Knights will roll into the state playoffs as the No. 1 seed with a 14-0 win over Deerfield Beach. THIS WEEK: No. 8 Parkland Stoneman Douglas (4-6) in the first round of the state playoffs. NEXT WEEK: No. 5 Palm Beach Gardens (6-4) or No. 4 Lantana Santaluces (7-3).

13. Miramar (3M, 6-4). LAST WEEK: The Patriots stayed red hot with a 53-18 win against South Broward. THIS WEEK: A first round contest against district foe No. 6 Hialeah American (6-4). NEXT WEEK: No. 7 Belen Jesuit (4-6) or No. 2 Hollywood South Broward (8-2).

14. Hialeah (3M, 9-1). LAST WEEK: The T-Breds won a thrilling 24-21 contest against Dr. Krop. THIS WEEK. No. 4 Miami Southridge (6-4) in a first-round state playoff game. NEXT WEEK: No. 8 Hollywood McArthur (5-4) or No. 1 Homestead (8-1).

15. Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (3M, 8-2). LAST WEEK: Won a thriller Broward Soul Bowl contest against Fort Lauderdale Dillard, 33-28. THIS WEEK: It will be a rematch of last week’s game right away - No. 5 Fort Lauderdale Dilliard (5-5). NEXT WEEK: No. 8 Plantation (6-4) or No. 1 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (9-1).

16. Homestead South Dade (4M, 6-3). LAST WEEK: The Bucs held on to beat Miami Southridge, 33-30. THIS WEEK: A first round home game against No. 5 Pembroke Pines West Broward (7-3). NEXT WEEK: No. 8 Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman (5-4) or No. 1 Miami Columbus (8-2).

17. Hollywood South Broward (3M, 8-2). LAST WEEK: The Bulldogs were beaten soundly at home 53-18 by Miramar. THIS WEEK: No. 7 Belen Jesuit (4-6). NEXT WEEK: No. 6 Hialeah American (6-4) or No. 3 Miramar (6-4).

18. Pembroke Pines West Broward (4M, 7-3). LAST WEEK: The Bobcats ended the regular season with a 23-14 win against Miramar Everglades. THIS WEEK: No. 6 Hialeah American (6-4) or No. 3 Miramar (6-4). NEXT WEEK: No. 8 Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman (5-4) or No. 1 Miami Christopher Columbus (8-2).

19. Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (2M, 7-3). LAST WEEK: The Chiefs were beaten at home against 10-0 Clearwater Central Catholic, 34-14. THIS WEEK: No. 7 Fort Lauderdale Stranahan (4-6). NEXT WEEK: No. 6 Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian (7-3) or No. 3 Boca Raton St. Andrew’s (9-1).

20. Miami Southridge (3M, 6-4). LAST WEEK: The Spartans lost a tough 33-30 decision to Homestead South Dade. THIS WEEK: No. 5 Hialeah (9-1). NEXT WEEK: A second round state playoff game against No. 8 Hollywood McArthur (5-4) or No. 1 Homestead (8-1).
