Over the next five weeks, there will be several talented football players in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties who will step up and make an impact on their teams.
These talented young men have been responsible for getting their programs into the playoffs and have been noticed by fellow players, coaches, and colleges.
While the senior class (2024) has been on the clock this season, they are not the only ones who have driven teams to the post season.
Here are some impressive quarterbacks to keep an eye on in Round 1:
There is no getting around that the quarterback position continues to elevate every year in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
There are several reasons who the position is being thrust into the national spotlight – and while playing year-round is huge, it’s those special instruction that they are receiving that has put many on a different level.
We are just one day away from the start of the post season, and prospects such as Kael Alexander, Miramar (2,039 passing yards, 23 TDs), Cedrick Bailey, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1,845 passing yards, 27 TDs), Jason Barket, Miami Westminster Christian (1,810 passing yards, 11 TDs), Davi Belfort, Davie Western (1,669 yards, 16 TDs), Travis Delaney, Hialeah (1,97 passing yards, 19 TDs), Devin Gonzalez, Weston Cypress Bay (1,679 passing yards, 23 TDs) and Coconut Creek’s James Hayes (1,337 passing yards, 12 TDs) are ready to perform.
Also keep an eye on big time prospects such as Andrew Indorf, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (1551 passing yards, 20 TDs), Zac Katz, Miami True North Classical Academy (2,188 passing yards, 27 Tds), Alberto Mendoza, Miami Christopher Columbus (1,508 passing yards, 17 TDs), Michael Merdinger, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (2,035 passing yards, 21 TDs), and Jonathan Morillo, Pembroke Pines West Broward (1,850 passing yards, 19 TDs).
When you are talking big numbers, South Broward junior Randy Phillips, Hollywood South Broward (2,822 passing yards, 15 TDs) and Miami Norland nationally rated junior Ennio Yapoor, Miami Norland) (2,483 passing yards, 18 TDs) have been in a class by themselves for the Bulldogs and Vikings. So have J.T. Tabora, Plantation (1,856 passing yards, 20 TDs), Rueben Toombs, Fort Lauderdale Stranahan (1,326 passing yards, 20 TDs) and Joshua Townsend, Homestead (1,319 passing yards, 16 TDs).
SEE THEM FOR YOURSELF
While stats are nice, production and mechanics will go a long way in the recruitment of a quarterback.
