MIAMI GARDENS -There’s no secret that when it comes to special teams and hosting events, there are nowhere near enough to promote and elevate the positions.
In the past five years, you could see more and more attention being paid to kickers, punters and long snappers because outcome of games was on the shoulders of special teams performers, and the need to develop top-flight specialists was becoming vital to every team at every level.
As the interest grew, showcases and private instruction started to take over the landscape, and things have now been pointed in a direction where these events, showcases and camps are now the norm.
This past Sunday Dan Lundy (4th Down University), Oscar Castaneda (OKC Kicking) and Coach Jeff Garner (Specialist Training) got together for a showcase at St. Thomas University for the, and by the end of the four hours, some quality talent rose to the top.
Promoted by Bleechr.com and Lazaro Suarez, punters, kickers and long snappers put their names on the radar.

Throughout the course of a year our objective is to promote and expose as many Miami-Dade and Broward County prospects as possible.
Because we attend so many events, during a year, we share those evaluations and stories with college coaches, high school coaches, parents and the student athletes.
While many often criticize us for continuing to say it: “If you do not watch these athletes live at games, practices, camps, and combines, ranking or player evaluations are useless and often do more harm than good. It’s that simple!
College coaches know the people who are watching these young men perform and use them as part of the recruiting process.
With that said, we try and cover every class, every level and attend as many games that most analysts wouldn’t think twice about – in the name of knowing that we have hundreds more football players who will head to smaller schools rather than Power 5 and Group of 5 programs.
Today, we look at five prospects for you to keep an eye on. Some have already been promoted while others are still searching for that exposure with spring right around the corner.
2026 - Dia Bell, QB, 6-2, 180, Plantation American Heritage. Another of those hard-working prospects who has devoted as much time to getting better than anyone else in the class. A tremendous athlete who has also show skills on the basketball court where his father (Raja) starred in the NBA, this impressive young man has carved out his future on the football field as has a chance to be very special the next few seasons. His arm strength and accuracy continue to improve with help from off-season 7-on-7 work. He also holds down a 4.8 GPA in the classroom.

2025 - Tywan Cox, CB, 5-11, 160, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. Talk about family football bloodlines, here is the next generation of a family who has long done some amazing things on the football field. It is no surprise that this quality talent brings it all to the table, and as he heads toward his sophomore season, college coaches and scouts know all about this playmaker who is quickly emerging into one of the best in his class. Solid football player who also gets it done on the track. Keep your eye on this talent as he matures.

2025 - Davaris Lawson, CB, 5-10, 175, Sunrise Piper. This quality football talent is someone we started watching last season after coaches and fellow players had talked about how impressive this young man us – and they were right. He covers plenty of ground as a pass defender while coming up for run support as well. His vision and knowledge of the position and football is impressive as players older than him do not bring as much to the table or come up with such dynamic plays. Another talent that continues to emerge and learn.

2025 - Cameron Sapp, WR, 5-10, 150, Miami Palmetto. Those in the know around south Florida football fields have been watching this impressive talent for a long time and have always come away impressed not only by his football skills but all-around knowledge of the game. Continues to mature and grow. Will turn plenty of heads over the next three years.

2026 - Marquis Williams, CB/WR, 5-10, 150, Miami Gulliver Prep. After watching the Raiders play last season, there were several gifted football players that stepped up. While the upper classmen often stole the show, it was this young man who planted a seed as a versatile two-way standout. As an offensive threat, he has quality route-running skills along with the ability to get open. This is a spot where many colleges have been watching and appreciating what he brings to the table. He also has tremendous concentration. His contribution as a special team’s player is also something that his coaches have continued to point out.

BRADENTON - On a Saturday, when there was so many things going on throughout the Sunshine State, five Miami-Dade County football prospects took the time to travel and get better.
As college spring games, 7-on-7 tournaments and other events that occupy the off-season, there was plenty going on at IMG Academy as Prep Redzone Florida hosted the GameChangers Combine as prospects throughout Florida came to learn and gain some off-season exposure.
With college coaches from Keiser University, Ave Maria, Warner and Webber teaching and evaluating prospects, it was a tremendous day all the way around.
With MVP awards being handed out to those who stepped up and turned some heads, there were others who also came and attracted the attention of the coaches as well as the fans on hand.
Here is a look at the five football players from Miami-Dade that took part:
CLASS OF 2024
Blake Brewer, OL, 6-2, 270, Miami Christopher Columbus. Easily one of the top line prospects among a large group, his technique and ability to sustain blocks impressed plenty of coaches who watched him throughout the event. Will be a valuable asset for the defending 4M state champions this coming season. His work during the testing and drills as well as the one-on-one competition drew raves. This is a hard working young man who enjoyed the event.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/14592413/Blake-Brewer
Fabian Rodriguez, QB, 6-0, 185, Miami Springs. Makes is was from Doral Academy this season and was another talent that coaches talked about. Has arm strength and accuracy and was impressive during the testing and drills. Had plenty of work during the one-on-one competition, getting plenty of accolades from his fellow campers. As he puts in the work this off-season, he will continue to get better. This is a talented athlete who also plays some tight end.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/13373019/Fabian-Rodriguez/highlights
Jordan Santana, DB, 6-0, 165, Hialeah Gardens Mater Academy. Talk about under-the-radar. This is a young man who made the 200-mile trip to compete and get noticed, and that is exactly what happened as his texting and work in the drills impressed. He is a quick and agile prospect who just needs to get more reps and additional exposure this coming season. During the one-on-one competition, he also turned heads with some impressive battles against quality competition. Keep your eye on his progress.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16121664/Jordan-Santana
CLASS OF 2025
Lucas Francisco, DT, 5-10, 227, Miami Christopher Columbus. Talk about coming to an event to compete and get your name out, this is a young man who certainly showed some promise, working hard in everything he did, knowing that there were plenty of eyes on him all day. Whether it was testing or drills, he was singled out several times for his hard work and will to get better. Even during the one-on-one workouts, he showed plenty of passion for the game. As he grows and matures, you will see someone who will fight for playing time on a team that is stacked!
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16079411/Lucas-Francisco
CLASS OF 2026
Oliver Hernandez, WR, 5-8, 135, Coral Gables. What combines and showcases have evolved into are forums for younger prospects to get their names out there. While the lack of experience is often a key factor, coming out and learning is essential for the growth of any athlete. What this young man did was test well, showcasing plenty of quickness and agility, and during the football competition, he showed that when he matures, gets stronger and fills out, this is going to be someone that head coach Frank Welsh and the Cavaliers will benefit from. Extremely hard worker who wants to get better and learn as much as he can.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/18105621/Oliver-Hernandez
Samuel Rodriguez, RB/DB, 5-7, 165, Miami Springs. When it comes to the will to get better and advance on the football field, here is yet another talented young man who has the chance to be special – whether it’s on the offensive side of the ball as a running back – or as a prospect in the defensive secondary. What he did on Saturday was set the table for the future – with the college coaches on hand. Impressive in his testing part of the event, in drills and during one-on-ones, where he went up against some impressive talent, there was a lot to like. He is a passionate young man who will burst onto the scene in 2023.

With spring football starting in the next two weeks, high school football teams are starting to get back together after an off-season of “all-star” 7-on-7 events.
With the emphasis over the next few months on benefitting from team events, things start to kick into gear as the Broward County Athletic Association and the Broward Football Officials Association will kick the spring off with an event on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 – with a “Battle of Broward 7-on-7 Tournament/Officials Camp.”

On Saturday, play begins at 9 a.m. at Cardinal Gibbons with the championship games slated for 12:15 and 5 p.m.
The Friday night games will feature three pool play games. On Saturday, knockout rounds and championship games for the “754” and “954” brackets will be held. There will be three 20-minute games guaranteed and one playoff game.
The objective is not only to get the high school teams together with their coaches and fellow players, but also give college coaches an opportunity to see how these young men respond in a competitive environment.
THE COMPETITION WILL HEAT UP
