Recruiting News

When Greater Miami Athletic Conference Week was created, it was done for a selfish reason.

The powers in Miami-Dade County wanted to promote their amazing football programs that they had and wanted to showcase them across the state and country.

Each year, every GMAC program competes against each other during this week, shining the spotlight on those schools in the #305 – regarded as the top area for talent in the country every year. In this area where talent pours out every year, moving on to colleges and universities and eventually into the NFL.

While there are critics who say why do these elite programs risk potential national ranking, playing one another when other areas do not do this – much like conference championships in college who have to play that extra game.

On the other side, there are those who believe that – no matter the outcome – the highly-rated programs who take part – should be rewarded, win or lose, for stepping up to the plate.

NONE BIGGER THAN TONIGHT

When nationally-rated Miami Christopher Columbus (7-1) and potential “Open Division” finalist Miami Central (6-1) square of at 7:30 at Traz Powell Stadium, it will be for not only the GMAC title, but more prestige as the state playoffs are a month away.

Miami Killian (6-1) at Miami Beach (6-1), Memorial Field, 7. Two of the biggest surprises this season as both programs continue to build on a solid season, setting the table for the future. While the Cougars and head coach Rudy Trevino won their district and are very much in play in Class 2A – with loads of talent – the Hi Tides and head coach Wilkie Perez are independent and bringing this program back – brick by brick.
