MIAMI GARDENS – With the high school football season now five weeks away – with the kickoff classics getting things started – summer football is still going strong.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes of south Florida will once again take center stage on Thursday and Friday at St. Thomas University (16401 NW 37th Avenue, Miami Gardens 33054) with a two-day padded came and offensive and defensive line instruction.
For the past six years, Coach Desmond Cook from the FCA and a former standout lineman, along with several others have hosted this mid-summer event that attract teams and linemen from throughout south Florida and into the Palm Beaches.
With the event getting started on Thursday morning, July 10th at 10:00, some of the top players will be in action – in full pads
From team walk through, warm up and stretch to individual and team event, there will be four practices over the two days as the competition will indeed be heated.
Schools competing in the 7-on-7 competition include Sunrise Piper, Miramar, South Broward, Miami Carol City, Coconut Creek and Hialeah.
The Trench Warrior Camp will include athletes from those schools and many more, who are looking to gain an edge on the competition.
Among the instruction and competition will be Jordan Budwig (5 Star Studs Lineman Training), Big Skills Academy, The Sack Sensei (Javon Gopie), Crafting Linemen (Torrian Wilson), Prime Line Performance and linebacker coach Wayne Blair (Detroit Lions).
“This is a great two-day event that has so many benefits,” Coach Cook said. “There are so many positives that will take place over the two days – on and off of the field.”
