South Florida Hosts Some Quality Friday Games

 Once again this evening, south Florida will be rolling out the welcome mat for some of the top games in Florida.

While that much-awaited game between 3A power Chaminade-Madonna and two-time defending 2A state champion Champagnat Catholic was called off due to Covid, there are other games to keep an eye on as well – involving top teams.

Kickoff Thursday: No. 2 Central, No. 7 Killian In Action

No. 11 North Miami Beach at No. 2 Miami Central (Traz Powell), 7:30. We know the Rockets are a huge favorite against the Chargers, but this is a district game, and while NMB may not have the depth to stay with this impressive program, we will at least see plenty of future college talent on both sides of the ball. Head Coach Roland Smith and his team can definitely move closer to wrapping up a district title.

No. 7 Miami Killian at Miami Carol City (Milander), 7. The Cougars are on a roll, and since losing to Miami Gulliver Prep in the kickoff classic, head coach Derrick Gibson and his team have found new weapons on both sides of the ball. They will indeed be a force that the Chiefs are not ready for. A Thursday game that will give fans a chance to see a Killian team that has turned into a true contender in 5A.

As we have said before, this is the time when being recognized and playing your best football can elevate an athlete to heights that many never dreamed about.

With key game being put in the spotlight, and coaches, players and fans shipping out game film and stats to the internet as well as to college coaches, who will take any information and player evaluations as people will furnish.

Week 5: No Huge Shakeup This Week In south Florida Top 20

Every once in a while, there is a week during the season where things play out the way they are supposed to.

This past week was certainly one of those – with only Chaminade-Madonna’s victory on the road against national powerhouse Buford, Ga. – going different than most thought. Other than that, very few teams moved this week.

 When football fans in the state of Florida looked at last week’s schedule, there were a number of games that had a high degree of interest.

With Hollywood’s Chaminade-Madonna heading to Buford, Georgia to take on the state’s No. 1 overall team, many felt that it would be a great experience for head coach Dameon Jones and Lions, and it was.
