THE SCOOP
It has now come to a point each year where this program is certainly in the mix for a state championship.
With top-flight prospects coming out of this program each season, college coaches have made this one of their regular stop in south Florida.
With two state playoff wins last season, it was that third game that left players, coaches and fans with a stinging feeling heading into the off-season.
While losses to unbeaten Miami Killian and Miami Christopher Columbus (GMAC Week) were tough to deal with, it was that second loss – in round three to Columbus that ended the season and gave this team plenty to deal with in the off-season.

The one thing that we have done for over six decades is promote ALL football teams and prospects, and that will never change.
Giving every football team in Miami-Dade and Broward County their spotlight is something that other sources will not do. They are not worried about the teams and players who are off the grid. Their readers and followers do not care about the teams who didn’t win last year – or the players who are NOT on the radar screen.
What has always separated us from everyone is that prep school junior college or major college prospects are all important, and we treat them all that way. They work as hard to achieve their goals as the prospects who may not be on the lists of the “elite” programs across the country.
Our objective, by the start of the 2022 season, is to give everyone who plays in the two counties a chance to be recognized.

THE HURRICANES FILE
Head Coach: Nick Dellaria
2021 Record: 0-10
THE SCOOP
No matter where it is – year-round – high school football prospects in south Florida are always looking for an edge.
No matter if they are 10-0 or 0-10, the objective is the same: get a college scholarship and continue to play this great game at the next level.
If you have followed high school football in south Florida for any length of time, you understand that not everyone wins and gets to the playoffs. It then comes down to developing and teaching and that is what is happening with the Hurricanes.
Through the years, this is a school that has produced its share of talent. From Mike Mullarkey, Stacy Coley and Dewey Klein to Terry Richardson, Bo Williams, Leon Pennington and many others, this is a school that has long developed student/athletes.
The south Florida landscape, while it gets plenty of attention for the elite programs that sell themselves, it’s the schools at the other end of the spectrum where the hours are put in – attending events and looking to get better.
Here is a look at some of the athletes this program will have this spring and summer:
CLASS OF 2023
Elijah Blackman (LB/TE, 6-0, 185)

THE TITANS FILE
Head Coach: Kevin Huntley
2021 Record: 4-6
THE SCOOP
Through the years, here is a program that has worked hard to develop its players while winning games and making a run toward a playoff spot.
While the objective is still the same, having enough prospects to buy in year after year – with student/athletes who have a passion for athletics as well as academics.
Nova has never been a school where you succeed by just playing sports. The combination of classroom work and a drive toward a college education is what the experience has been about.
Coming off a season where they beat Pembroke Pines Charter (13-6), Coral Springs Taravella (37-7), South Plantation (31-14) and Pompano Beach (35-13) gave the younger players an opportunity to win games while learning about the sport.
As usual this coaching staff will use this spring and summer to teach and develop talent to win more games in the fall while setting the table academically.
Here is a look at some of the prospects to keep an eye on:
CLASS OF 2023
Rutan Bui (QB, 6-0, 180 – 3.96 GPA)

Stephon Saint-Velus (DE, 6-0, 242)
Jimon Whittick (OL/DL, 6-0, 250)
CLASS OF 2024
Mitchell Beckford (RB/OLB, 5-8, 165)

If you know head coach Donald Jackson, you understand that while wins and losses are very important, it’s development and character is what he is all about.
Along with his assistant coaches Brandon Davis, Mike Klekotka and Jerome Labello, teaching and development is what the experience of playing for this program is all about.
Because this program and schools focuses on education, keeping up with those recruit athletes has never been a priority.
