Hollywood Hills Continues To Develop & Teach

THE SPARTANS FILE

Head Coach: Brandon Graham

2021 Record: 5-5

THE SCOOP

Having been around the program for decades, head coach Brandon Graham knows the drill by now.

He has been around through some good times as well as those rough patches.

Through the years, the landscape of football has changed dramatically, no matter how you try to keep up with it.

While getting caught up with holding on to your players can often be out of your control, the veteran coach has changed course and is using his experience in the game as a reason to play football for the Spartans.

What it comes down to is developing and teaching as well as exposing your student/athletes to camps, combines and 7-on-7 events as an enhancement to what is being taught year-round at the school.

Building on a .500 season which included wins against Pompano Beach (7-0), Oakland Park Northeast (22-7), Davie Nova (14-0), Pembroke Pines Charter (21-6) and Miramar Everglades (28-13), this team heads into the summer with plenty of optimism and a belief that improvement is key.

Here is a look at some of the prospects who figure to lead the way in 2022:

Miami Southridge Shows Promise With A Solid Spring

THE SPARTANS FILE

Head Coach: Rick Munne (Pierre Senatus in the fall)

2021 Record: 4-6

THE SCOOP

While the 2021 season ended with a 4-6 record, this spring certainly changed the negative thinking in the community with the fans.

This is a program that came out on top against Greenacre John I. Leonard (26-7), Hialeah (49-6), Hialeah Gardens Mater Academy (47-6) and South Miami (38-30) in a year that started to shape up at times.

When practice began this spring there was plenty of optimism as players, coaches and fans started to feel that progress was being made.

With a solid performance in the Palm Beach Gardens Spring Classic, there was indeed reason to be pleased at what had transpired. The Spartans played hard and showed that things could even get better during the summer.

While many still remember the glory years of this one-time powerhouse, they understand that to get back to that point, a lot of hard work and sacrifices will have to be made.

Here is a look at some of the prospects to keep an eye on this summer:

Ferguson, Coach Gene Chew Continue To Develop

THE FALCONS FILE

Head Coach: Gene Chew

2021 Record: 6-4

THE SCOOP

Here is a program that very few people in south Florida follow, but the job that Coach Chew has done over the years is amazing.

As the only head coach this school has head, he and his staff have always been about developing and teach – which is so overlooked in today’s high school football.

Through the years, while they have not been a power, the Falcons have maintained success and churned out their share of student/athletes.

By heading to off-season events at colleges and universities, the exposure has been impressive and schools have been taking notice.

Coming off another winning season – with wins over Hialeah Gardens (26-0), Miami Coral Park (13-6), Miami Varela (21-7), Doral Ronald Reagan (14-0), Southwest Miami (27-26) and Hialeah (35-6), keep an eye on this program in 2022 with several keep athletes in all classes.

To Improve, Miami Beach Needs To Work Hard In The Summer

THE HI TIDES FILE

Head Coach: Alex Terry

2021 Record: 6-3

THE SCOOP
After winning six times last season, this program got together and started to dedicate themselves to getting better and taking it one step further in 2022.

Part of that process includes year-round work and having each and every prospect be accountable for what they do and accomplish in the off-season.

With solid coaching and plenty of talent, the name of the game will be finding depth. That was a major reason that this team did not accomplish the goals they set at the start of the season.

Remember, this is a football program that has more than its share of success throughout the years, churning out some quality talent along the way. To get back to the place where they were knocking heads with some of south Florida’s best, there has to be a continued commitment, and it starts this summer.

After a solid spring – with college coaches on campus – here is a look at some of the prospects to keep an eye on this summer and moving forward into the fall:
