TRACKING SOUTH FLORIDA (MIAMI-DADE & BROWARD) PROSPECTS – CLASSES 2024-2027. Miami-Dade/Broward OL Continue To Improve

We are less than two months until the start of spring football in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and every position is working hard to improve.

When college coaches head south, many recruits will want to showcase their many skills at each position. Remember, college scholarships are attained from December tpo August and not so much during the season.

With that in mind, the work that is put in now will truly pay off from an individual and team standpoint.

With many combines and camps being held – along with workouts and schools – this is the time of year when it all comes together.

When many of these student/athletes left the 2022 season, they were smaller and not as mature and skilled as they are right now.

The combination of hard work and growth will most likely produce a much different recruit than last November or December – the last time college coaches had the opportunity to see these young men perform.

One of the positions in this two county area that has been getting better and better are offensive linemen. With individual and team events, each lineman has been offered the opportunity to improve, and in some cases, change the way they have been recruited.

Here is look at some of the rising seniors who entered the off-season as prospects to keep an eye on – in the 2024 Class:

From Raynor Andrews (Miami Norland -G) to Izick Jean-Baptiste (Miramar Everglades),

David Bassan (Fort Lauderdale NSU University School -T/G), Nathan Julian Blanc (Miami Northwestern), Zack Boehly (Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons - T), Lonnie Brady (Homestead) and Michael Brennan (Weston Cypress Bay - T), the line prospects have truly come a long way.

Add in Blake Brewer, Miami Christopher Columbus - C/G), Jackson Campbell (Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna - G), Martaz Charles (Fort Lauderdale Stranahan), Deymein Chavarry (Davie Western), Keon Daceus (Coconut Creek), Jabari Dukes (Miami Monsignor Pace - G) and Chanellson Exume (Miami Edison) and the talent bar continues to be raised at the position.

Because of the success of many teams throughout the course of a season, prospects such as Albert Jones (Miami Central), Adrian Laing (Miramar), Ricardo Martinez (Miami Palmetto), Jonathan Mejia (Miami Palmetto), Daniel Mincey (Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons - T) and Luke Moise (Miami Central) continue to turn heads.

The 2024 class also boasts standouts such as Christian Nieves (Homestead South Dade - C), Anthony Reed (Homestead South Dade), Keion Reyes (Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna - T), Caleb Riley (Miami Norland), William Roberts III (Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas - T), Jonathan Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons - T), William Rothmiller III (Miami Central - G), Matthew Rubio (Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas - C), Roman Ruiz (Fort Lauderdale Stranahan), Teko Shoats (Miami Central), Aron Stephen (Miami Southridge), George Stubbs Jr. (Miami Carol City), Brian Suarez (Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas), Devan Taylor (Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons - G), Jimmy Williams III (Plantation American Heritage - T), Jordan Williams (Miami Killian), Vincent Blanding (South Miami) and Josh Zeikowitz (Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna).

THERE ARE MORE ON THE WAY.

In addition to those prospects mentioned, here are some others to keep an eye on as well. Remember, it there are changes to be made – whether it’s position, name of schools, please let us know (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Hundreds of college coaches view these lists every week.

Florida Coaches, Players Take Advantage of the Orange Bowl Football Showcase

As nearly 300 qualified high school seniors came to Miami Gardens on Saturday, it was evident that playing football and getting an education was very important.

For area high school coaches, making their way to St. Thomas University for the now annual Orange Bowl Football Showcase was very important.

While many showed for the Friday night coaching social, others also came to the event on Saturday to talk with coaches and support their players.

Tom Caporale (Miami Dr. Krop), Gene Chew (Miami Ferguson), Gerald Cox (North Miami), Richard Dunbar (Fort Lauderdale), Brian McCartney (Pembroke Pines West Broward), Charles McCrae (Hollywood South Broward), Rex Nottage (Coconut Creek North Broward Prep), Rodney Rumph (Miramar Everglades), Quenten Short (Sunrise Piper), Pierre Senatus (Miami Southridge) and Alex Terry (Miami Beach) as well as assistant coaches from several other schools came to support and sell their prospects.

“I wouldn’t miss something like,” Dr. Krop head coach Tom Caporale explained. “The theme of this Saturday as college coaches actually watching these young men live and not just from a video that is five months old. This event should be held everywhere in the country.”

Caporale was not alone. Fellow coaches, players and parents felt the same way as they came from all over the state.

“My son really wants to play football in college and get some of it paid for,” April Tanner said. “We came from Palm Beach County to get him in front of the college coaches and anyone else who could help.”

Broward County prospects came – such as Iva Hayes (DB, Miramar Everglades), Patrick Darelus (DB, Deerfield Beach), Elijah Plaisir (DB, Hollywood South Broward), Jashun Lindsay (DL, Pembroke Pines Flanagan), John Alcime (Fort Lauderdale), Eric Campbell (S, Pompano Beach), Reginald Haugabook (WR, Davie Nova) and Aidan Baldwin (DB/WR, Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson).

Other Broward County prospects trying to turn heads included Shawn Williams (RB, Plantation), Jude Roman (OL, Pembroke Pines West Broward), Zachary Tanelus (DB, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna), Bradley Merard (DL, Cooper City), Tucker Jean (DL, Parkland Douglas), Jalyn Jackson (DE, Fort Lauderdale), Joshua Pontigo (LB, Cooper City), Gabriel Lenamon (LB, Parkland Douglas), Matthew Mejia (OL, Davie Western), Michael Kinghorn (OL, South Plantation), Danny Maitlen Jr. (OL, Hollywood South Broward), Amer Ellis (QB, Plantation), Malachi Clarke (QB, Pembroke Pines Charter), Michael Settles (RB, Coral Springs Taravella), Kaid Muhammad (S, South Plantation), Devan Lamar (S, Fort Lauderdale Stranahan), Jason Bourciquot (WR, Pembroke Pines Charter) and Antwon Clark Jr. (WR, Coral Springs Coral Glades) to mention just a few that are looking.

Miami-Dade also was well represented with Elijah Smith (DB, Miami Carol City), Elijah Douyon (DB, South Miami), Jaheim Haughton (DB, Miami Dr. Krop), Jefferson LaFontant (North Miami Beach), Kareem Maycock (LB, Miami Northwestern), Darryl Doctor (OL, Miami Palmetto), Tony Taylor (QB, South Miami), Isaiah King-Chery (RB, Miami High), Lemmie Faulk (RB, Miami Norland) and Mark Wilder (Doral Academy).

Orange Bowl Football Showcase Is The Wave of the Future

Lets face it, we are now in 2023 – with technology taking center stage.

The days of making things harder on yourself are coming to an end – and that is something we have learned the past few years in the recruiting game.

Once upon a time – having smaller college recruiting fairs was a tremendous idea. The smaller colleges would head down to Florida and meet with local coaches who would show videos and transcripts of their student/athletes. They would them meet with the athlete and their parents the very next day to talk finances and ways to assist them in cutting costs.

The idea was great, and it was something – without Zoom or any live video platform – that made sense. But times have changed and just coming south to watch film and talking with high school coaches and players is something that can be done without traveling.

ORANGE BOWL FOOTBALL SHOWCASE IS INDEED THE FUTURE

While many areas of the state were hosting the small college recruiting fair this past week, the Orange Bowl Senior Football Showcase was setting up camp for the seventh year.

As 30 plus smaller colleges made their way to St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens on Friday and Saturday, they did so in a way where it all made sense.

Friday night at the meet and greet at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, college coaches and high school coaches got together to watch some film and talk about their senior prospects in a relaxed setting, setting the table for Saturday.

The scene then shifted to St. Thomas University of Saturday for a combine – which gave the college coaches on hand an opportunity to watch these young men who were bigger and more mature then the tape they had watched the night before.

For six hours – as the college coaches were right on hand to see for themselves – the combine produced athletes from as close as Miami and as far away as Jacksonville and Tallahassee.

From host St. Thomas University to Florida Memorial University, Keiser, Webber International, Warner, Fort Lauderdale University, to schools such as Atlantis, MTI Prep and Daytona Elite Academy, many schools were signed up – with information to help these qualified young men.

From out of state - Saint Vincent College (Pa.), Aurora University, Heidelberg University, Wittenberg University, Ohio Northern, Rockford University, Lincoln University, Northwest Missouri State, Wayland Baptist University, Manchester University, Alderson Broaddus University, Dean College, Livingstone College, Allegheny College, Clarke University, Seton Hill Uuniversity, Lake Forest College and Shaw University.

There were also St. Andrews University, Tusculum University, Adrian College, Beloit College, Cottey College, Johnson C. Smith University, University of Charleston, Dakota State University, Westminster College, Avila University, Hamline University, North American University,
