When Kevin Claxton returned to his alma mater to help turn things around on the football field, the one-time Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson standout understood that things would not change overnight.

The former University of Wisconsin standout knew that times have changed, and while the Cobras still have talent that pours in from the local community, it is certainly not what it was in the 1990’s when this program was one of the elite teams in south Florida.

No longer can plan too far into the future at any high school in Broward County. With the “open enrollment” it is no longer a given that you will have students for all four years, so you have to live one year at a time.

Coming off a 4-6 season and a second-place finish in District 15-5A, there is a sense that improvement was made and a path was set toward getting over the .500 mark and making the state playoffs a reality.

With a successful off-season and the return of some quality rising (2026) seniors, this is a program that is willing to put in the work.
