South Florida In The Spotlight As Playoffs Open

Starting with yesterday’s two games that kicked off the state playoffs, you can almost guarantee that this region will be watched by everyone.

While we already know that the amazing number of prospects that come out of this region each and every year is mind-boggling, to say the least, the teams that are developed in the #305 and #954 are unmatched.

Check major college and NFL rosters and you will see more than your share of stars who started right here in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

In just the past five years (since 2016) alone, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties have brought home 23 team state titles!!

Last year, 7A St. Thomas Aquinas, then 6A Miami Central, 5A Plantation American Heritage, 4A Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons and 2A Champagnat Catholic all came home with state titles. Only 3A Chaminade-Madonna, which has been one of the top teams in the state all year – playing the toughest (RPI) schedule in Florida – didn’t win in 2020, falling short in a game that they were ahead most of the way.

This region is on fire – and as the 1A-3A will travel to Tallahassee, the 4A-8A will be right here in our backyard at Drive Pink Stadium (formerly Lockhart Stadium) for everyone to see.

It’s about time that we have the chance to see our own teams – instead of watching them travel all over the country. The fans, who cannot make the trip to Orlando, Tallahassee or Daytona Beach, will have the opportunity to see some impressive talent going against different competition.

As the road in all classes offer no guarantee because of the format, things will be mighty fun over the next five weeks!
