THE CHIEFS FILE
Head Coach: Matt Dubuc
2021 Record: 11-2 (4A State Champions)
THE SCOOP
Moments after the thrilling 21-19 win against Cocoa for the 4A state title – second straight – head coach Matt Dubuc and his staff were looking toward 2022.
With several key prospects returning – along with some new faces – the season ahead would keep this train rolling.
The success of this program has not come overnight. But now that they have arrived as a state power, you can expect that this team will be in the mix every year.

THE PIONEERS FILE
Head Coach: Gerald Cox
2021 Record: 4-5
THE SCOOP
Check back over the past decade and you will see that this is a program that attracts the top talent and develops them for the first two years – only to lose them to other programs.
Enter head coach Gerald Cox, who comes from Miami Booker T. Washington, Coconut Creek and is totally familiar with south Florida and how everything works.
If the Pioneers are to be successful and hold on to these future stars they will have to give their student/athletes something special, and as the 2022 season will unfold with spring football, there is a sense around this campus that things are in place to win games and keep these stellar athletes who come from the City of North Miami and are groomed by Pioneer coaches.
Winning cures all and the grass, while it seems greener on the other side, is often not.

THE SCOOP
During their 10-game winning streak last season, this program truly came together like many never predicted.
Losing to 8A Miami Palmetto to open the season, 21-19, only got this team more focused as they reeled off wins against rival South Dade (42-14), Miami9 Jackson (41-6), Hialeah Gardens Mater Academy (41-0), Miami Southridge (35-16), Hialeah (39-0), Miami Booker T. Washington (27-20) and Doral Academy (47-6) for the district title.
Playoff wins against South Dade (55-24), Hollywood South Broward (55-3) and Fort Lauderdale Dillard (28-14) gave this program plenty of confidence, heading into the third-round playoff game at national powerhouse Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas.

THE JAGUARS FILE
Head Coach: Cameron Thomas
2021 Record: 6-3
THE SCOOP
With a playoff appearance in 2021, this is a program that has arrived.
If you have followed this team through the years, you know the one thing that has always lacked is consistency – and that was not the case last year.
With wins over Coral Springs, Taravella, West Broward, Flanagan, Cypress Bay and Coral Springs Charter, the Jaguars did something positive, and the prospects responded.
As the spring is officially getting started at the end of next week, keep your eye on this program – as rising seniors will combine with optimistic and gifted underclassmen.
The future looks bright as winning football is alive in western Broward County.

While there are several camps and combines as well as 7-on-7 tournaments that emphasize quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, defensive backs and linebackers, the linemen are often short-changed when it comes to exposure.
But with group like Crafting Linemen and Torrian Wilson, that perception is changing – for the better.
Exposure events showcase talented offensive and defensive linemen – and provide that instruction and exposure needed.
Last Saturday, Ives Park in North Miami Dade County was the place to be for the Pre-Spring Crafting Linemen event as several talented “big men” came together, and by the time things ended, players and their coaches and parents left with a positive feeling.
With spring football right around the corner, it was time for these high school athletes (classes 2023-2026) to get that exposure needed.
They came from Georgia, Tampa, Port St. Lucie, Clearwater and throughout south Florida to get a jump on the rest of the competition, as colleges and universities will be down soon to check these young men out.
TOP PERFORMERS STAND OUT
As is the case in any event that you attend, there are those athletes who come to learn and those who are there to showcase their many talents.
Among the standouts on Saturday included:
2023
Antawon Foulkes (OL, Pompano Beach Blanche Ely), Aiden Martinez (OL, Miami Belen Jesuit) and Judah Michel (DL, Port St. Lucie Centennial).
2024
Michael Brennan (OL, Weston Cypress Bay), Joseph Ionata (OL, Clearwater Calvary Christian), Keion Reyes (OL, Miami Central), Jonathan Rodriguez (OL, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons) and Elyjah Thurmon (OL, Bradwell Institute, Georgia).
“Very impressive group of linemen,” Wilson said. “ I was really bowled over by the young prospects who did so well. It shows that we are in great hands for years to come on both sides of the line.”
THERE WERE OTHERS AS WELL
In addition to those standouts, several other linemen – on both sides of the ball – were also looking impressive and turning heads as well:
2023
