PROSPECT WATCH: Broward County National Football Showcase

As we wrap up the 2023 Broward County National Football Showcase we take a look at the seven local teams who took part.

With a 5-2 record against teams from Georgia, California, Virginia, Washington D.C. and North Carolina, Broward County more than held its own against some quality opponents.

While there was plenty of talent on all the fields and in every game, we chose seven players to shine a spotlight on:

2024 – Allen Bryant, S, 6-1, 170, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas. With an already strong defensive secondary, the Raiders have someone who has a chance to be very special this season – and last Saturday against California power St. John Bosco. He is one of many south Florida prospects who have committed to attend Pittsburgh.

2024 – Zachary Crothers, DE, 6-4, 240, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. Yet another University of Pittsburgh commitment who is going to be a catalyst for the Lions on the defensive line. Made an impact against Baltimore power St. Frances Academy last Saturday afternoon. One of the top pass rushers returning this season.

2025 – Deandre Desinor, RB, 5-9, 170. Plantation American Heritage. From the day he transferred from North Broward Prep, those who know the game fully understood that this was going to be one of the major impact players in south Florida this year. A dominant junior running back, who brings everything to the table and already has eight offers.

2024 – Guy Edmond, DB, 5-11, 180, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons. This is one of those impressive football players that the coaches and his teammates have been talking about for the past two years. Is one of the most complete defensive backs in south Florida – and he brought his “A” game to the opener against North Carolina’s Cardinal Gibbons. By the way, he had six college offers and counting.

2025 – Koby Howard, WR, 5-11, 180, Davie Western. When he arrived this summer from Pensacola Catholic this may have been the most talented football prospect of the 275 who came into programs across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Already considered one of the elite football players in the Class of 2025, colleges from all over the country are following his every move.

2024 – Shamar Meilke, DE, 6-5, 215, Miramar. While this program always produces elite talent and football players who make a splash at the next level, they have yet another one who made an impact on several schools before committing to attend Indiana University. Has a chance to be very special.

2025 – Samari Reed, WR, 6-2, 190, Coconut Creek Monarch. For those who have been watching this gifted football talent perform the past two years have said that this is easily one of the fastest-rising receivers in the state. No matter who he goes up against at any level, he more than holds his own.
