Miami Christopher Columbus

THE EXPLORERS FILE

Head Coach: Dave Dunn

2021 Record: 9-4

THE SCOOP

You can rattle off some of the top teams in south Florida and list their many accomplishments. But at the end of the day, when you put all those programs together, the Explorers deserve to be in that impressive group.

While the 2021 season ended with a loss at eventual 8A state champion Venice, the Explorers set the table for the future – using several young prospects with veterans who helped to go deep in the playoffs,

With a state title, a finals appearance and a Tri County Championship, this is a program that knows what it takes to get to that next level, and as we head toward spring, there are a number of impressive football players who are sure give this program a huge lift.

With veterans and newcomers coming together, 2022 should indeed be exciting – with a state title appearance as a reachable goal.

Dillard Ready To Get To The Next Level

Fort Lauderdale Dillard

THE PANTHERS FILE

Head Coach: Tyler Tate

2021 Record: 10-2

THE SCOOP

With 28 wins in the past three seasons, the Dillard Panthers have now established themselves as one of Florida’s top high school football programs – and it’s only going to get better.

Coming off a year where this team lost to 7A state champion Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas and to emerging south Florida power, Homestead, in the playoffs, the corner is being turned. But now, head coach Tyler Tate and his team need to take this thing to the next level and translate all those wins into a true race for a state title.

This is a team, loaded with football prospects in every class – and as the 2022 spring is almost here – winning games will be a priority – with plenty of talent and playmakers aboard.

THE FLYING LS FILE

Head Coach: Richard Dunbar III

2021 Record: 6-3

THE SCOOP

Coming off a district championship season, there is reason to believe that this program has indeed arrived.

If you have followed what head coach Richard Dunbar and the Flying Ls have been able to accomplish over the past decade, you already know that combining hard work year-round on the football field as well as in the classroom has attracted extremely motivated and gifted student/athletes to Broward’s oldest high school.

For years, this is a program that went through the motions when it came to football, but Dunbar has elevated the talent, interest level, play on the field to come up with am extremely impressive program that now expects to win and graduate its players.

As we head toward spring, there is a solid mix of veteran and young prospects who are anxious to keep things rolling along.

NMB Is Always Ready To Compete Again In 2022

THE CHARGERS FILE

North Miami Beach

Head Coach: Jeff Bertani

2021 Record: 4-6

THE SCOOP

There are very few football players in south Florida who have a grasp for the entire game than NMB.

What veteran head coach Jeff Bertani has always done is teach and coach the way he learned – from many influential and knowledgeable coaches and football minds along the way – as a player, and as a coach for over 30 years.

His team know offense, defense and special teams – not only to enhance their contribution to the team, but getting them ready for the next level, where playing multiple positions can enhance recruiting and making a contribution in college.

With a number of prospects moving on to the next level, the 2022 season will be the usual senior leadership along with gifted underclassmen, who are ready to make an impact.

A playoff ready team, the Chargers are always in better shape than the opposition – and often more schooled in the sport.
