While much of the 7-on-7 spotlight this off-season has been taken by some of the traditional off-season powerhouses, this year a new name has popped into the competitive landscape.
Coach “Fresh” and his second year Power7United has turned heads so far this winter with championships at the Coach Mac 15 and Under event as well as taking home the varsity title at Fort Lauderdale’s Eat Speed event and the Shook Tournament in Las Vegas.
With several tournaments left on the schedule, this team boasts some impressive south Florida athletes from throughout the talented Miami-Dade and Broward County areas.
“When you put together a group of gifted athletes who want to compete and play hard, this is results you get,” Coach Fresh explained. “We have only gotten started as this team will be headed to a number of cities – such as Tampa and Orlando as well as several other competitive tournaments throughout the state.”
In addition to Coach Fresh and several others, ex NFL player Jarius Wright from Arkansas and Mark Sanchez of Uschool and Bryce Sampson of Fort Lauderdale High all have played a huge roles in this program's success.

South Florida Miami Combine Sets The Tone For The Off-Season. https://larryblustein.com/news/south-florida-miami-combine-sets-the-tone-for-the-off-season
It’s been eight days since the South Florida Combine – Miami stop took place and the talk continues about the talent that showed up.
With several positions being recapped so far, college coaches across the country along with fans have had the opportunity to read all about these impressive young men who headed out to Ives Park.
When the organizers of the combine told all in attendance that every player who came out would be recognized not only in the coming weeks, but over the next few years, there were those who simply did not buy into it.
Past camp and combine experiences for many have come down to spending their money, being told how the event would help them – and unless you were a high star-rated athlete your time at the event was over and your name would never be put out again.
With quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, offensive linemen and linebackers already getting the chance to gain that promised exposure, today the spotlight is directly on the defensive linemen.
Here is a look at some who learned and had the chance to see what a combine provided:
2024
Roosevelt Caldwell Jr., DE, 5-10, 255, Pompano Beach Blanche Ely – 3.5 GPA. One of the rising prospects who has the opportunity to establish himself as one of those prospects to keep an eye on as he comes over from Deerfield Beach. As he learned in the combine, hard work and knowledge will carry you a long was, as will the work in the classroom.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16627481/Roosevelt-Caldwell
Omar Kinsler, DE, 6-4, 188, Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast – 3.4 GPA. One of the quality football talents who comes from a solid program that teaches and plays a competitive schedule. This is a standout athlete who could blow up this coming season, and spending time at off-season events will add to that growth.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/15498794/Omari-Kinsler
Christopher Williams Jr., DE, 6-1, 215, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons – 2.97 GPA. If you’ve followed this program for any length of time, you already know what kind of football prospects this team produces, and this young man certainly has a chance to be as productive as any. A versatile player that can lineup at several positions on the defense and do very well.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/15064450/Christopher-Williams/highlights
2026
Jordan Canas, DE, 5-11, 195, Miami St. Brendan. When we focused in on this young man a few days ago, it was as a tight end prospect. So now a few days later and we are looking at him as a quick defensive end that has plenty of athletic ability to make sure that he is noticed. Has a chance to make so much happen up front, and that’s why head coach Steve Smith will use him when needed.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/17831408/Jordan-Canas
Jeremiah Haggins, DL, 5-9, 160, Miami Dr. Michael Krop. You can already see why this impressive talent will be special. Following in the footsteps of his brother, who is a rising senior quarterback for the Lightning, this is an athlete who will grow and if he stays on the defensive line, it will be very interesting to watch how he matures and grows.
Dasean Miller, DE, 6-1, 225, Pompano Beach Blanche Ely – 3.2 GPA. If you look at the way the Tigers turned things around this past season, all you have to do is check out young, versatile prospects like this who can play outside linebacker as well as make a difference at the defensive end position. Solid talent who will continue to emerge this coming season.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/18072476/Dasean-Miller
2027
John Gay III, DE, 6-0, 155, Glades Middle School – 3.2 GPA. It’s always fun to have young football talent show up to a combine as they use the experience to make a solid future in the sport. While he is in middle school, this is someone who will have a chance to emerge at a number of positions. Starting out as a defensive end, you can already see what he brings to the table.

MIAMI – When high school football players came to Ives Park in northern Miami-Dade County on Feb. 5, each athlete was told that just for attending this event, they would be placed firmly in the spotlight.
As we continue to live up to that promise, the attention today turns to the defensive side of the ball with a look at the linebackers who came out to learn and compete.
With the linebacker position always the focal point in south Florida and throughout the country, college coaches want to see just what these gifted young men bring to the table.
Here is a look at the standouts who attended:
2023
King Williams, OLB, 6-0, 180, Fort Lauderdale – 3.2 GPA. You often wonder what coaches look at when evaluating players. Maybe some attend on a day where the athlete doesn’t perform the way they are capable. Every time we watched this quality prospect, he made plays and showcased his quickness and ability to read offenses. Don’t miss out.

2024
Jaden Atkinson, LB, 6-0, 188, Miramar – 2.5 GPA. A versatile playmaker for the Patriots, here is a prospect who can lineup on the defensive line, linebacker and offense if needed. A lot will be told this coming year as this team will continue to build.

Carlo Massaro, LB, 5-11, 155, Lake Worth Park Vista – 3.2 GPA. This is someone that needs exposure and playing time to get more attention. Attending the South Florida Combine was a solid way to kick his off season into high gear.

Anthony Ottinot, LB, 6-1, 195, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons – 3.5 GPA. Having watched his father play back in the day in Miami-Dade County, here is perhaps one of the fastest-rising linebackers in south Florida. MIAMI – Whenever you attend football camps, there are numerous receivers, quarterbacks and defensive backs who attend with the idea of getting their name on the radar screen.
The one position that usually lacks in numbers are the offensive linemen. That was not the case last Sunday for the first South Florida Combine – Miami took place at Ives Park.
Attempting to not only jump on the radar screen but learn some technique, linemen in every class and at all skill levels took advantage of what was indeed an exciting exposure opportunity.
With a look at the quarterbacks, running backs and receivers the past few days, we wrap up the offensive side of the ball with some linemen who came out.
The offensive line position which has lacked in exposure for many years here in the state of Florida has seen an amazing change. There are more and more camps devoted to the “big men” and showcases that have brought more exposure to the top performers.
Colleges and universities have also added line camps to their 7-on-7 tournaments to keep players together and create more of a team concept.
Here is a look at the line prospects who attended:
2024
Blake Brewer, OC, 6-2, 270, Miami Christopher Columbus – 3.8 GPA. Here is a hard-working prospect who was a part of the Explorers’ 4M state championship team.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/14592413/Blake-Brewer
Amir Fairweather, OL, 6-6, 260, Fort Lauderdale Archbishop McCarthy – 3.2 GPA. This is someone who has the size, tests well and is in need of an opportunity to get playing time at the next level.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/18023800/Amir-Fairweather
Roshaun Gardner, OG, 5-8, 240, Pompano Beach – 3.1 GPA. With an opportunity to have a bright future, this is a student/athlete who works hard to make an impact for years to come.
Benjamin Gula, OL, 6-5, 230, Weston Cypress Bay – 3.4 GPA. As part of an outstanding line unit, this is someone who may not have gotten the spotlight that others received. He has helped to open doors and will do anything it takes to succeed.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/18048207/Ben-Gula
Nicholas Serrano, OC, 5-10, 238, Palm Bay Heritage – 3.87 GPA. Talk about someone who will do anything to succeed, here is a talented young man who has been at this since the 8th grade, setting the table for the future competing against top programs. His move to the Space Coast from south Florida well truly open eyes wide!
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14654072/6378073c066ba108f416397b
Josh Zeikowitz, OT, 6-5, 300, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna – 3.8 GPA. As the Lions attempt to rebuild their offensive line for an amazing eighth straight trip to the state finals, it’s newcomers like this who brings so much to the table that has a chance to be very special. A big, strong and dedicated football player.

2025
Donovan Cherson, OC, 6-0, 200, Pompano Beach – 3.7 GPA. Yet another football player who is setting the table for a bright future by getting it done on the football field and in the classroom.
Saji Rolle, OL, 6-1, 275, Boynton Beach – 3.96 GPA. Playing a big part in a state playoff run, this is well-rounded student/athlete who is willing to work hard to create positives.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16525722/Saij-Rolle
Sebastian Ruiz, OT, 6-2, 233, Hialeah American – 3.9 GPA. On a team that is looking for leaders, this is certainly someone who is helping the Patriots turn the corner in a competitive south Florida. Remember the name!
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16594386/6373b62596768b0c80bcfd9f
Jake Santovenia, OT, 5-11, 240, Miami Archbishop Carroll – 3.32. When you look at the success this team has this past season, advancing to the state playoffs it’s because of solid coaching and developing talent like this.
TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16690894/Jake-Santovenia
Jaylin Torres, OL, 6-2, 250, Miramar – 2.7 GPA. It’s no mistake that the Patriots went three rounds deep in the state playoffs – with developing talent like this. With hard work, he can continue to become special.
