The many opportunities that south Florida athletes have to prove themselves is perhaps like no other anywhere in the country.
If it’s not every form of football – from 7-on-7 events to camps and combines – it can be in other sports, and that is sometimes what college coaches relish more than anything else.
The exposure of being at a remote location, catching passes in the off season – or competing in a track meet where many fans can watch and appreciate, the chances to gain exposure are certainly endless.
College coaches will tell you, especially in a year like this where activities have grinded to a halt, anytime you have the chance to watch our many prospects perform, it’s a win/win – all the way around.
SALKEY PROFILE
PLAYER: Jayson Salkey
POSITION: WR
SCHOOL: Davie Western
CLASS: 2021
HEIGHT: 6-0
WEIGHT: 175
SCOUTING: Having watched this young man get it done in the off season – at 7-on-7 events has been a plus, but now as he enters his final season, this is someone who is ready to put it all together and make up for lost playing time.
His work ethic has put himself in a position where head coach Adam Ratkevich and this quality 8A program will need him to be a catalyst this coming season.
When we first watched him perform, it was his ability to get open, catch the ball in traffic and use his speed to make things happen. Now, as the Wildcats will certainly be among the best teams in south Florida, here is a player that will be needed to use his skill and experience to help lead the way.
Running track, attending as many events as possible has given Jayson a major advantage as he looks to fill some voids left with the graduation of some key playmakers.
In a world where one play can change the fortunes of an athlete, this is the kind of football talent that can go from under the radar to squarely on it – just like that!
