The one thing that we continue to talk about during this pandemic break – and a conversation that plays out over and over are all the talented prospects there are in south Florida.
Remember, this is an area of the country where top athletes get lost in the shuffle because there are too many quality bodies to see.
College coaches – in an effort to keep track of all the football players that Miami-Dade, Broward and the Palm Beaches annually churn out – have to rely on recruiting services and high school coaches to help them uncover some of the impressive prospects that are always popping up.
Because very few recruiting services and fan websites see all the talent – often opting to head to where certain promoted football talent happens to be, they miss so many football players who continue to help their programs win games. It’s something that has gone on for decades.
ROBIOU PROFILE
PLAYER: Xavier Robiou
POSITION: S
SCHOOL: North Miami Beach
CLASS: 2021
HEIGHT: 6-1
WEIGHT: 175
SCOUTING: From the first time we had the pleasure of watching this young man perform, it was one of those head-shaking moments, asking why he wasn’t uncovered sooner?
This is indeed a football player who has slid way beneath the radar screen, and even college coaches who are very familiar with this part of the country, had completely missed out on a playmaker who has more than a chance to be very special.
While veteran head coach Jeff Bertani promotes his players, you have to remember that a corps of his football team does not play one position. They never have – and this is one of those two-way plus special teams performer who has everything you are looking for to play at the next level – including grades in the classroom.
Had an opportunity to compete against some very tough competition – locally and out of state as the Chargers always seek out the best to go against.
While Xavier is confident about his ability, this is not the type of athlete who needs to sell himself. Watch him play during the course of a game and you will plainly see for yourself.
When all is said and done, this is going to be someone to keep your eye on in 2020.
