The one thing that gives any athlete in south Florida an edge is the early playing time that football prospects continue to receive.
There was a time – a few decades back – where there were no freshmen playing varsity and very few sophomores. It was just something that was etched in stone.
To play as a freshman was simply unheard of – and even the thought of a sophomore getting actual varsity playing time was something that just didn’t happen. But times have changed – and no longer is it unusual for 9th and 10th graders to grab the spotlight.
Many point to the superior youth programs that continue to dominate the south Florida landscape. The players are more advanced because the coaches are that much better, and no longer is all the learning being done at the high school level.
BERNADEL PROFILE
PLAYER: Gaethan Bernadel
POSITION: OLB
SCHOOL: Hallandale
CLASS: 2021
HEIGHT: 6-1
WEIGHT: 215
SCOUTING: Make no mistake, when this quality football player lines up in August for head coach Herman Lovett’s Chargers, he will be a four year varsity starter – and a darn good one.
One of the best linebackers in the state, this young man has grown into quite a prospect. One who is being pursued and recruited by dozens and dozens of colleges, and for good reason.
A quick, strong and agile football talent who makes plays – and has become a true leader for a team that is ready to turn the corner.
Came in as a freshman and has made a major impact even since. Has the speed and experience to dominate, and that this what this team is looking to do in 2020 – with several new faces coming aboard so far in the off season.
Watch him and you will be sold by his ability to play this game. Any college that gets him will be extremely fortunate.
