There is simply nothing quite like south Florida football.
While much of the attention is always going to be directed toward the more high-profile schools, which have multiple prospects, it is also a place where the players who don’t have that reputation can get their fair share of the spotlight.
It is no secret that Miami-Dade and Broward have more elite football talent that get the exposure at every turn. But it is also home to impressive football talent that may not peg that meter.
For every Power 5 athlete that is promoted throughout this region, there dozens and dozens of very gifted football players, not rated and coveted who can play this game, and play it very well.
MARSHALL PROFILE
PLAYER: Avari Marshall
POSITION: WR/CB
SCHOOL: Hialeah Barbara Goleman
CLASS: 2022
HEIGHT: 5-9
WEIGHT: 165
SCOUTING: Here is a talent that 90 percent of the analysts and fan websites never heard of before – and that is why south Florida is the fertile ground that it is.
If Marshall played at Central. Northwestern or any of the powers in Miami-Dade and Broward, he would guaranteed be considered an elite prospect – and for good reason.
Forget the fact that this gifted young man runs in the 4.4 range and plays four different positions for head coach Ariel Cribero’s Gators, but he gets it done in the classroom as well.
Yes, there are plenty of quality football players who do not attend the marquee schools for one reason or another, and while Marshall will end up in the same place as some of the elite football players in Miami-Dade and Broward in two years, he chose a much different path to arrive at the same place, which is indeed not the norm in 2020.
Football is football – and it may or may not last for an extended period of time. But what will be endless is what happens in the classroom, and how you prepare for your life away from the gridiron, and that is what separates Avari Marshall from the rest of a very talented pack.
