MIAMI-DADE/BROWARD: Playoff Spots Remain Open

As we begin the final two weeks of the 2022 season, there are many schools who have already punched their collective tickets to the post season. But there are also several programs that will need these final two weeks to get themselves into a state playoff position.

With so many programs getting hot down the stretch, it will be wise to keep your eye on south Florida the past two weeks.

As we head toward Week 10, here is a look at how programs are doing in this region:

1. Miami Central (2M – 8-0). THIS WEEK: A regular season-ending game at home against Miami Monsignor Pace on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Rockets won a thrilling GMAC Week game against No. 5 Miami Christopher Columbus, 42-35.

2. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1M – 7-0). THIS WEEK: A home district game on Oct. 27 against Boca Raton Saint John Paul II. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Lions won another district game, 63-0, against Hollywood Avant Garde Academy.

3. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (3M – 8-0). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end on the road against Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Raiders rolled against Coconut Creek Monarch, 37-6.

4. Plantation American Heritage (2M, 8-1). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end at home on Oct. 28 against Hallandale. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Patriots took care of Naples on the road, 35-17.

5. Miami Christopher Columbus (4M, 8-1). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a non-district home game against Hialeah Barbara Goleman on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Explorers fought a gallant fight with No. 1 Miami Central in a GMAC Week contest, 42-35.

6. Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (2M, 8-1). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a home district game against Fort Lauderdale Stranahan on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Chiefs stayed on the road with a 31-20 win against Bradenton Manatee.

7. Miramar (3M, 6-1). THIS WEEK: A Friday away district game against Miramar Everglades on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: The regular season comes to an end with a Nov. 4 home game against Hollywood South Broward. LAST WEEK: The Patriots continued to impress with their fourth shutout of the season, 21-0, over No. 16 Davie Western.

8. Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (3M, 7-0). THIS WEEK: A home district game on Oct. 28 against West Boca Raton. NEXT GAME: It’s the annual showdown at No. 9 Fort Lauderdale Dillard on Saturday, Nov. 5. LAST WEEK: The Tigers magical season continued with a convincing 38-14 win against Sunrise Piper.

9. Fort Lauderdale Dillard (3M – 5-3). THIS WEEK:  t’s back on the road for a trip to Tallahassee Lincoln on Oct. 28. GAME: It’s the annual showdown at home against No. 8 Pompano Beach Blanche Ely on Saturday, Nov. 5.  LAST WEEK: The Panthers rolled to a 35-0 district win against Fort Lauderdale.

10. Miami Booker T. Washington (2M – 6-2). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a Saturday road game against Westland Hialeah. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: After a convincing loss to Miami Northwestern, the Tornadoes were back at it last week with a convincing GMAC win against Miami Southridge, 35-21.

11. Plantation (3M – 6-2). THIS WEEK: A Friday district game on the road against Sunrise Piper on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: The regular season comes to an end with a Friday road game against No. 16 Davie Western. LAST WEEK: On Thursday, the Colonels beat Deerfield Beach, 14-7. Then last night (Monday), they beat rival South Plantation, 48-14

12. Miami Norland (2M – 5-2). THIS WEEK: A Thursday home district game on Oct. 27 against North Miami Beach. NEXT GAME: The regular season comes to an end with a Thursday, Nov. 3 home game against Miami Killian. LAST WEEK: The Vikings came up with a huge GMAC Week victory over Miami Palmetto, 35-14.

13. Homestead (3M, 6-2). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with and Oct. 28 home game against Miami Belen Jesuit. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Broncos put everything into gear with a GMAC Week win against No. 17 Miami Northwestern.

14. Coconut Creek Monarch (4M, 6-2). THIS WEEK: An away district game against Coral Springs on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: The regular season comes to an end with a Nov. 4 home game against Deerfield Beach. LAST WEEK: The Knights were soundly beaten by No. 3 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, 37-6.

15. Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian (2M, 7-2). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with an Oct. 28 road game against Oakland Park Northeast. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs In 2 Weeks. LAST WEEK: The Eagles saw their six-game winning streak come to an end against North Palm Beach Benjamin, 28-21 in overtime.

16. Davie Western (4M – 4-3). THIS WEEK: A Friday night trip to Coral Springs to play Coral Glades on Oct. 28 in a district game that could give this team a title. NEXT GAME: The regular season comes to an end with a home game on Nov. 4 against No. 11 Plantation. LAST WEEK: The Wildcats were shutout by No. 7 Miramar, 21-0, in a game that surprised everyone.

17. Miami Northwestern (2M – 4-4). THIS WEEK: It’s GMAC Week and a meeting with No. 18 Homestead on Oct. 20. NEXT GAME:  The regular season comes to an end with a district game against Miami Immaculata LaSalle on Saturday, Oct. 29. LAST WEEK: Just when it appeared the Bulls were back on track, GMAC Week came and so did No. 13 Homestead – as the Broncos won, 44-28.

18. Hollywood Avant Garde (1M, 5-2). THIS WEEK: A Thursday home game against North Lauderdale Somerset Prep on Oct. 27. NEXT GAME: A season-ending regular season game at Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace. LAST WEEK: The Sharks found out how impressive No. 2 Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna was. Losing 63-0 in a district game.

19. Coconut Creek (3M – 5-3). THIS WEEK: An away non-district matchup with Deerfield Beach on Oct. 28. NEXT GAME: The Cougars travel to Miami to play Palmetto on Thursday, Nov. 3. LAST WEEK: One of the hottest teams in south Florida, the Cougars rolled to their third straight win, 41-13, against Hollywood McArthur.

20. Miami Jackson (2M, 5-3). THIS WEEK: An away game against Miami Edison this Friday. NEXT GAME: The regular season comes to an end on Friday, Nov. 4 with a home game against Miami High. LAST WEEK: The Generals won for the fifth time in six games, beating Coral Gables in a GMAC Week game, 29-7.
