The greatest thing about covering football in south Florida is that the marquee players will get their respect from camps, combines, games and word of mouth – while others will rely on people actually seeing them live.
It has happened for decades that so many prospects are overlooked, and the ones who are discovered are actually done by people watching them during games and seeing the difference that they make.
It is proven that more athletes slip through the cracks in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties than in any area in the country – and while so many are on top of the recruiting in this region, they only consume themselves with the star-rated athletes, often not having time or readership for under-the-radar talent.
Knowing about the top-flight prospects in this or any other region is easy, but the tough thing is to discover talent that isn’t getting the spotlight shining on them.

SCOUTING: If you really follow high school football recruiting in south Florida, there is no doubt that you see more than the talent that gets much of the attention. You watch games and see who is making the real impact, and that is a huge difference.
In years of scouting and recruiting prospects, you tend to know who is making the plays that helping teams win and who are the prospects that are getting attention – just because they have the size and look the part.
Having watched this quality football talent a year ago, there is no doubting that he is as much of a playmaker, and is as responsible for the success of the Bulls as anyone on the defensive side of the ball.
Whether at the linebacker position or defensive tackle, he follows in the footsteps of some impressive talent that has come through this program – with the ability to attract the attention of college coaches.
