With the off-season now in full swing, it is time to spend more time looking at prospects who are going to start to blow up once spring arrives.
With our collective fingers crossed, staying healthy and away from Covid, spring could be a reality as college coaches will be more than welcome into this area and have the opportunity to finally see these athletes up close.
As it has been for decades, it will be our objective to keep everyone up-to-date on how our south Florida athletes are progressing – as we watch camps, combines and 7-on-7 events
THE JENKINS PROFILE
PLAYER: Keyone Jenkins
POSITION: QB
SCHOOL: Miami Central
CLASS: 2023
HEIGHT: 5-11
WEIGHT: 175
SCOUTING: There are plenty of impressive sophomore quarterbacks who are playing football in the state of Florida, but very few of them have won a state title.
Starting his career at Mater Academy and then moving to Carol City for his sophomore season, maturing and learning plenty about the position -and of course – the game as well.
When he moved over to Miami Central this past season, he was surrounded by a top-flight offensive line, emerging receivers and a running game that was impressive.
In leading the Rockets to a second consecutive 6A state title, he put his name out there to those who had not watched him play before. He is a smart, athletic football player that throws the ball left-handed and is developing into something very special.
As he continues to grow, mature and gain more confidence in himself, this is one of those Class of 2023 that may not get the spotlight the others are getting, but can be as good as anyone in the nation – over the next few years.
