It has gotten to the point that the schedules are so loaded in south Florida, getting to see every marquee matchup will not be easy.
The opening weekend of the 2021 high school football in south Florida had a little bit of everything.
From big wins to upsets and games called off because of Covid, this first weekend of the season was indeed something that will set the tone.
As we do throughout the course of a year, getting out to watch the teams live is what it’s all about – especially during this pandemic, which has slowed down the recruiting process.
BOOKER T. WASHINGTON GETS OFF TO A GREAT START
After a tough season in 2020, the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes and head coach Gerald Cox came away with a 20-12 win against Miami Norland to start out 1-0 – with Miami Northwestern and Miami Central coming up in the next two weeks.

CHAMINADE FLEXES MUSCLE IN WIN OVER WESTERN
It was billed as a 3A powerhouse against an 8A team that had proven that they belong with the big boys in south Florida.
Chaminade-Madonna and head coach Dameon Jones used a strong defense and timely offensive plays to beat a very talented Western program – as head coach Adam Ratkevich and the Wildcats were anxious to showcase this quality team.
In the end, the Lions (1-0) came away with a 30-13 decision against the Wildcats, who are still considered as one of the best in their class.
