Third Annual Broward National Football Showcase Set For August 22-24

When plans were made for the first Broward National Football Showcase two years ago, the plans were to bring in programs from across the country to play Broward County teams.

The idea was to make it a showcase that would catch the eye of the country, who has always thrived on national matchups.

Throughout the years, it has been Florida schools who are often the road teams, and while the objective was to get the best matchups possible, having Broward County as the host was the reason that this was created.

With a successful opening year that brought in programs from California, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Washington D.C. And Pennsylvania, it set the table for the second year where the event attracted St. Frances Academy (Maryland), St. John Bosco (California), St. John’s Prep (Washington D.C.). Highlands (Virginia), Milton and Cedar Grove (Georgia) and Cardinal Gibbons (North Carolina) who all came to the event.

With Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, Plantation American Heritage, Davie Western, Coconut Creek Monarch, Miramar and Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons hosting, it was certainly three days that captured the attention of the football-starved country.

With ESPN once again involved and the event now recognized nationally, the 2024 schedule is the best yet.

With Dave & Busters, Hollywood, the Broward Education Foundation, Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital and Memorial Hospital among others, the 2024 roster of teams will be impressive and feature nationally ranked teams.

“It’s like a college bowl atmosphere,” said Co-Founder Dr. Kevin Perry. “The teams fly in, stay at the best hotels, attend area attractions such as the famous Jungle Queen and the Miami Marlins games, eat great food and are driven around south Florida.”

“When Shawn Cerra and I came up with the idea, it was made with bringing in the best teams for the seven games,” Dr. Perry added.

With the addition of a Florida school (Lake Mary) as well as Miami-Dade (Northwestern), this year’s showcase will be first class and will garner plenty of attention.
