If you have followed the Fort Lauderdale football program over the past five years, you already know that the Flying Ls are getting it done in all phases.
With Coach Richard Dunbar and his staff leading the way, this program has been able to develop, teach, get it done in the classroom and send athletes to the next level.
What Dunbar did this past season was set the table for the 2021 season. A pandemic year that watched this team finish 3-2, and in the process finish strong and give this team plenty of optimism, heading into the off-season.
With losses to power Dillard and much improved Stranahan, the Flying Ls finished strong – beating Royal Palm Beach (34-27), Blanche Ely (26-10) and South Broward (35-6) in the Tri County playoffs.
What this team does return is a quality rising senior class (2022), where there is athleticism, size and experience leading the way.
Among those talented prospects in that class are D’Avryante Brown (OL/DL, 6-1, 290 – 2.5 GPA), Blesd Jordan Davis (RB, 5-9, 205 – 2.9 GPA), gifted and talented Richard Francois (WR/DB, 6-0, 160 – 3.4 GPA), experienced running back Germanuel Tanelus (5-10, 190 - 4.0 GPA), Richard Frater Jr. (OL/DL, 6-0, 200 – 3.6 GPA), Malik Knight (WR, 6-1, 160 – 3.0 GPA), Gavan Loriston (WR/CB, 5-10, 170 – 2.8 GPA), Franklin Moore (WR, 5-11, 162) and linebacker/safety Julien Olbel Jr. (5-11, 186 – 3.1 GPA).
Fort Lauderdale will also roll out difference makers such as Darien Parris Jr. (OL, 6-3, 330 – 2.6 GPA), experienced Benjamin Profit (OLB, 5-11, 190 – 2.7 GPA), and offensive linemen Tony Watkins (6-3, 355 – 3.6 GPA) and Jashaun Woodstock (5-10, 320 – 2.7 GPA).
UNDERCLASSMEN ARE READY AND WAITING
While the rising senior class will add that experience and leadership, the rising juniors (2023) are also talented and ready to make an impression.
Players like William Carey (WR, 5-7, 130 - 4.195 GPA), Luca Foerch (QB, 5-11, 185 – 3.2 GPA), Jeremy Francis (OLB/S, 5-10, 175 – 3.4 GPA), Joshua Jennings (RB, 5-10, 185 – 3.319 GPA), Oscar Koenig (WR, 6-1, 176 – 3.8 GPA), Celci Simons (OLB) and receiver Jermarri Watson (5-8, 150).
The youth movement is also evident in the talent in Class of 2024 prospects Owen Emerson (OL, 6-1, 335 – 4.333 GPA), Kyle Ford (LB, 5-10, 180 – 3.4 GPA), Jadyn Glasser (QB, 5-11, 170 – 3.8 GPA) and receiver Javares Whitehead (5-10, 140)
