In the crazy world of high school football playoffs where 3-7 teams qualify while 7-3 programs are left out of the mix, this week will certainly shine the spotlight on some Miami-Dade and Broward programs that are still in the hunt.
As play begins this evening, Class 2A will certainly take center stage at Traz Powell Stadium when North Miami Beach and veteran head coach Jeff Bertani will bring their 4-4 record into this evening’s (7:00) contest against head coach Anthony Walker and his Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace Spartans (3-5).
As of right now, both programs would be in the state playoffs in two weeks as the Race For Miami begins – with 1A-7A being held at Pitbull Stadium on the campus of FIU.
In Region 4 – No. 1 seed Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons would be the No. 1 seed and would face off against Monsignor Pace. No. 2 Miami Immaculata LaSalle (unbeaten) would be home against No. 7 Miami Carol City. No. 3 Miami Gulliver Prep would host No. 6 Homestead Somerset Academy Silver Palms, and No. 4 Miami Killian would play host to No. 5 North Miami Beach.
