THE SCOOP

The key word when talking about this program is stability.

Since the untimely passing of Corey Smith, the search has been on for someone to lead this once proud program – which in many ways was the first real power the state of Florida had back in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and into the 1960s.

Upholding that tradition has not been easy, but with a few coaches, the meter was at least pegged a little and winning football returned to Little Havana.

After a 5-4 season last year, a coaching change was once again made and this spring and summer has been spent trying to build on the small successes the Stingarees have had.

Wins against Hialeah American (41-13), North Miami (21-20), longtime rival Coral Gables (37-7), Miami Jackson (7-6) and Miami Beach (47-28) gave this team something to be optimistic about in the off-season, and as we approach the 2022 season, there is a good feeling surrounding this program.
