Back on Sept. 8, a week after they had lost a heartbreaker to nationally-rated Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, the Miami Central Rockets returned home play Booker T. Washington.
The game, which has been competitive through the years, was important to a program that had won four consecutive state titles. It was a contest that would give them an indication of what the year would be like.
That 38-28 win set the tempo for a team that would have to play national power Chaminade-Madonna and a Miami Norland program that had gotten stronger over the past year.
Tonight (7:30) the season will come down to one game for the Tornadoes and Rockets when they clash for the second time at Traz Powell Stadium in a state 2M Region Semifinal. The winner will get another shot at Miami Norland next week in the Region Final.
There are numerous games this week across the state that will certainly get some of the spotlight, but this matchup will perhaps get the most attention as both programs come into the game with winning streaks and everything on the line.
