It has been a crazy off-season, but one that has given several athletes a chance to jump on the radar screen, which is certainly something that is essential in the recruiting process.

No matter what class they play in – or what college they have in mind, these athletes in south Florida continue to elevate their standing by competing pretty much year-round.

Having the pleasure of watching so many football prospects LIVE in game conditions, we have that opportunity to discover much more than the athletes that are hyped and pushed out by every recruiting service and fan website.

Anyone can watch a film and be an “expert”, but very few can make the effort to promote prospects nobody sees or talks about by watching them play.

MELENDEZ PROFILE

SCOUTING: The best thing about football in south Florida is there are so many prospects – in every class – that school size is never important.

Here is a young man from a smaller program, but certainly one that is on the rise, and it’s athletes like this that certainly changes the fortunes of any team.

What you have here is a prospect that has been turning heads since he started playing. Continues to grow – and by the time this season is finished, he should be a defensive tackle that is quick, strong, athletic and has already started to develop leadership qualities for head coach Helder Valle and his staff.

Watch him in drills and he dominates. Follow him during the course of a game and he is always around the ball.

If this young man were at one of the marquee schools, he would be entertaining huge offers, but in time, that attention will gravitate toward him, and major colleges will have little choice other than to start offering him. He has that good and his potential at the position puts him right there with the best who play football in south Florida, and throughout the state.

This is football player that you need to watch over the next two years. He will be the one dominating and keeping his name in the spotlight.
