SPRING SPOTLIGHT: Dillard’s Jackson Is A Rising Star

As spring football was held for the first time since 2019, Monday was indeed something special for players, coaches and fans who simply cannot get enough of high school football.

With the pandemic taking away spring and summer last year, the one thing is for sure – over the next month – student/athletes will give everything possible to grab that spotlight and possibly put themselves in one for a scholarship.

With college coaches still not in the mix until June 1, it will be up to coaches and athletes to stay proactive by posting video and other things that will attract positive attention.

Remember, come June 1, every college coach in America will be heading in all directions, trying to close deals that were started on Zoom or other methods of communication. In other words – BE PROACTIVE!

What Spring 2021 will do is give coaches throughout the state an opportunity to at least plan for the summer – with an eye toward the 2021 season.

With practices, conditioning, scrimmages and games, this next month will be a great time to be a high school football fan – anywhere in Florida.

THE JACKSON PROFILE

PLAYER: Antione Jackson

POSITION: CB

SCHOOL: Fort Lauderdale Dillard

CLASS: 2024

HEIGHT: 6-0

WEIGHT: 175

SCOUTING: As we traveled across south Florida and the entire state of Florida the past nine months, the one theme is young talent. We wanted to eyeball these prospects so we can give a valid opinion – without having to share the same video everyone is watching.

South Florida football fans always produce gaudy and high-rated talent, but this cycle, the Class of 2024 – statewide – certainly boasts as much talent as you will find anywhere.

With impressive talent at every position – and everywhere from Jacksonville to Homestead, there are going to be prospects who boggle the mind at such a young age.

The one thing about Antione Jackson is he has turned heads since putting on a uniform. He is quick, athletic and way beyond his years in experience and talent.

Watching him play in person several times – from 5 feet away – you get a sense of someone who just fits in. His ability to read and cover is amazing for a freshman. He is quick and getting stronger all the time.

Talk to anyone who has played with or against him and all will tell you that this is someone who will continue to climb the ladder nationally and will be a major recruit.

With interest already pouring in, this is not only the future of the Panthers’ secondary, but a prospect who will impact head coach Tyler Tate’s program that is now at the 7A level.

While the camps and combines are not going to determine whether you are going to be a good football player, they do reveal things like “twitch”, athletic ability and how you run and test – and at the Under Armour event at West Orange High backed that up.
