Miami-Dade, Broward Home To Productive 2027 Quarterbacks

When it comes to the quarterback position in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, it seems like the talent level seems to rise every year.

Over the past five seasons, those who play the position continue to get better and better, and as we head toward the 2025 season, the Class of 2026 have already shown that that the position is improving to the point where colleges and universities across the country continue to head to the #305 and #954 to find prospects that are helping to elevate their programs.

As the Class of 2027 gets ready to put themselves on the clock, once again the two counties are boasting players that continue to step up and are making an impact this off-season – some who had already put themselves on the radar last year as sophomores.

Here are some of those quarterbacks to keep an eye on:

Tyler Chance, 6’1, 170, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna – 3.92 GPA. Led the Lions to yet another 1A state title with his ability to run and throw. Overcame an early season injury to become one of the best in his class. While measurables are always on the table, production is everything. Heads into the season as one of the players that college coaches are watching.

Cody Conness, 6’1, 200, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas – 3.81 GPA. After spending last season as a backup at Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons, playing into the playoffs, he made his way back to play for the six-time defending state champion Raiders where he has battled all off-season. Remains one of the more talented prospects in south Florida, and when given a full chance to showcase his skills, this left-hander will no doubt impress. He is a highly intelligent football player.

Nick Dyer, 5'11, 186, Cooper City – 4.9 GPA. It’s a shame that someone like this doesn’t get more exposure than he does. This is a solid talent, who has become a leader in two short years. He throws the ball with accuracy and continues to make an impact for the Cowboys. Keep in mind, in this day and age of student/athletes who are always on the move looking for greener pastures, he has made a commitment to elevating the Cowboys and making those around him better. Those are qualities that fans may not see but believe college coaches do not overlook it. His work in the classroom is also stellar!

Zachary “Zac” Katz, 6'1.5, 200, Miami True North Classical Academy – 3.8 GPA. Coming up on his third year as a varsity starter for this program. Perhaps nobody in his class has played at this level longer than he is. A gifted student/athlete who has met every challenge – during the season as well as in the off-season at 7-on-7 events, camps and combines. Has never backed away from any challenge. One of the best work ethics you will find, and it shows in his overall game.

Jayden Miller, 6’0, 200, Fort Lauderdale University School – 3.2 GPA. Very few prospects at this position have accomplished more than this quality player who guided his team to the Sunshine State Athletic Association state title game with impressive talent and leadership during a season where the Sharks made a huge statement. Has emerged into someone that college coaches are impressed with his ability to throw and read defenses. Will continue to be someone that everyone will want to keep an eye on over the next two seasons.

Kai Moore, 6’1, 185, Miami Norland – 3.8 GPA. For the past two seasons, here is a gifted student/athlete that learned, watched and had the opportunity to showcase his skills. Never stopped working and attending events that helped to spotlight someone that was ultra talented. Playing behind the most prolific quarterback in Miami-Dade County history (Ennio Yapoor), there was never any doubt that he would be the next great one for the Vikings and south Florida. Has combined his football skills with his work in the classroom to attract plenty of attention.

Logan Pelliccio, 5'11, 180, Weston Cypress Bay – 4.0 GPA. After a string spring and summer, he takes over the Lightning and gives them stability at the position with his knowledge and skill to play this game at a high level. Comes in from Flanagan with an opportunity to lead this team into the state playoffs. Has spent the past few months getting to know his new teammates and creating a bond that will be needed this coming season.

James Perrone, 6'2 185, Miami Southridge. Heads into the 2025 season as the No. 1 rated prospect at his position in the Class of 2027. One of the elite performers in Miami-Dade County, he led the Spartans to within minutes of a state championship appearance. What he did show this past season was an ability to move an offense with his arm, legs and instincts. While he knows that this is a process, he is ahead of the game and major college coaches and evaluated his many talents. This is a prospect that comes through in the big games, and as colleges and universities continue to watch his every move, he has two years left, and that is something that very much plays in his favor. He is extremely athletic!

Kingston Rust, 6'3, 212, Miami Christopher Columbus. After spending his first year in the state of Florida last season at Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman, this versatile prospect landed with the 7A power Explorers and started to fit in during the spring. This is a physical talent that can throw the ball with a big arm and run when needed. Another of the many young prospects who has time on his size and will continue to get better and mature with a team that has plenty of weapons around him. Is getting plenty of interest from colleges in the off-season and is anxious to get the year under way so he can showcase his talents against some quality opponents.

Jack Spaeder, 6'3, 185, QB, Davie Western. Has this impressive talent with so much promise finally found the perfect fit? For the past two years, he has been learning and developing and trying to find his place at a few programs in south Florida, but with his recent move to play for the Wildcats, this could be the spot where everyone gets the opportunity to see what this young man is all about. He has a strong arm and can read defenses. With Western and head coach Adam Ratkevich, he will be given the chance to do his thing in an offense that is wide open. This program has had more success with its quarterbacks than any other – with the past three competing at the “D1” college level. If you’ve watched him play, you already know what he can do, and 2025 could be the season where everything comes together.

Jackson Stroud, 6’5, 190, Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian. He may not be a household name just yet, but this is someone in the class that is certainly on the rise, combining size, quickness, athletic ability and a will to succeed. This will be a huge year as he continues his development and year-round commitment. Has all the tools needed, from passing to running, to quickly jump into the mix. Will be surrounded by younger players in 2025, but if his work in the spring is any indication, remember the name. He does have elements of his game that are hard to teach.
