State Playoffs Continue Today With Key Matchups

As Thursday kicked off the 2025 state playoffs in Florida, today will also uncover some impressive first round contests.

While football fans are looking forward to the next few weeks when games will get much more interesting, there are also some first round games that many will be attending.

Today, we shine the spotlight on three more games that could be very interesting and could easily go either way:

REGION 4-2A

No. 3. Miami Killian (7-3) vs. No. 6. Miami Carol City (6-4), 7:30, Betty Ferguson.

This is one of those matchups with two programs trying to reclaim their successful history.

Coach Rudy Trevino and his Cougars have been playing competitive football down the stretch, and head coach George Stubbs and the Chiefs are looking to play on a district championship. It should be very entertaining.

The Colonels and head coach Darrell Strong have played in the most competitive 4A district in the state – while the Panthers and head coach Demetris Mincey have answered every bell as one of just a few unbeaten programs heading into the state playoffs.

There is plenty of interest in this game with the winner having plenty of momentum moving on to the second round.
