It Goes Down Tonight At Traz Powell Stadium

It’s been a long time since Miami Norland has beaten Miami Central on the football field, and some believe if the No. 4 Vikings don’t come out on top of the No. 2 Rockets this evening (7:30) at Traz Powell Stadium, that dominating streak will continue – into the future.

Forget about this being possibly the first of two meetings between the district foes, the talking that has gone on since this contest was scheduled way back in the spring has reached a fever pitch, and tonight it all goes down.

On their “Drive For Five” straight state titles, head coach Jube Joseph and his football team approach this as just another game in protecting what has been theirs for a long time.

Central is once again stacked with talent – losing to only national powers Las Vegas Bishop Gorman and Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna by slim margins.

The Vikings and veteran head coach Daryle Heidelberg have been building for this season by bringing in as many as 20 new faces, mostly seniors, to overtake one of the country’s best, but after last week’s close call to Miami Booker T. Washington, the task this evening may be tougher than first expected.

The Rockets are motivated by national ranking and a chance to once again dominate Florida’s 2M competition. They love to prove the doubters wrong!

The talk is over, and the district title is definitely on the line. Are the Vikings actually pretenders or are they really here to contend? The answer will arrive after 10 p.m.
