The one theme during this pandemic for his school football prospects in south Florida has been changing addresses.
If you live in this area, this is nothing new. Miami-Dade and Broward, along with Palm Beach County is way out ahead in student/athletes transferring – and we continue to watch it unfold year after year.
It’s nothing to brag about and it isn’t a good thing if the athlete leaves your school, but we have learned to understand that there are so many athletes and so many people giving advice, it’s as simple as putting the word out that you are not pleased with the way things are going – and your address is changed – just like that.
While not every move is based on the number of offers an athlete gets, a majority are – and that is where this slope gets very slippery.
Sometimes if a player leaves a private program, it comes down to the family not being able to afford the tuition – which is often less money– but NOT free.
While we have to put up with all these states that continue to boast how great their programs are, when it comes down to it, Florida has more athletes and football talent. It plays out on rosters every year in the NFL, and nobody listens to anyone who tells you otherwise.
Florida is in the spotlight and epicenter, and every bit of news that comes out of the Sunshine State is HOT and everyone wants to know about it.
The numbers of transfers are staggering – and are showing no signs of slowing down.
GASKIN PROFILE
PLAYER: Tyler Gaskin
POSITION: CB/S/WR
SCHOOL: Deerfield Beach
CLASS: 2021
HEIGHT: 5-9
WEIGHT: 170
SCOUTING: Here is a football talent that has been on the radar screen for much of the past two years – and while he has played as well as anyone – the offers have not been coming in for this impressive two-way performer.
Watch him play and you are immediately bowled over by his athleticism and passion for the game. He is quick and elusive when he gets his hands on the ball.
On defense, he has more than proven that his cover skills along with his ability to come up with jarring hits that lets receivers know that if you are going to get anything positive on him, you will have to work.
No matter if he plays cornerback or safety, this is a talented young man who got it done for Delray American Heritage, and will certainly make things happen for the 8A Bucks in 2020.
This is a team player who will always raise his hand to do anything to elevate the program. Offense, defense and a superb special teams player.
