One of the most popular radio shows of its kind moved to Thursday night this week for two hours and looked at summer football camps, and high school baseball and softball playoffs on 104.3 FM – WQAM.
Each week, the FM 104.3 WQAM radio program attracts the newsmakers in high school sports, recruiting college sports – not only locally, but throughout the country.
The show gives listeners an opportunity to hear about college football programs statewide from the media that cover them. It also focuses on the coaches who use the state of Florida – Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in particular.
The program, which has run for nearly two decades and has been recognized nationally as one of the best of its kind, has become a popular listen for recruiting fans as well as high school sports purists, focusing on high sports and the newsmakers.
Here is a look at the way Thursday night went:
A six-run first inning proved decisive as the Coral Springs Charter Panthers girls’ softball team and head coach Mark Montimurro defeated Eustis 6-3 to earn the Class 3A state championship. Including state championships at Hollywood Christian in 2003-04, Montimurro now has eight career state titles. The Panthers six championships are now tied with Gulliver Prep for fourth most in state history.

After a solid season and a productive spring, Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman and head coach Ariel Cribeiro will host a summer-long football camps that will teach and instruct campers, teaching them all about the game. This is an event that all young football players need to take advantage of at a low, low price.

Starting Friday night, West Palm Beach Keiser University will have a month-long series of camps, combines and 7-on-7 events that will provide exposure for high school football prospects. With coaches and media on hand to capture all the events, head coach Myles Russ and his staff will be at the center of these impressive showcases.

What a great baseball season it was for Parkland Douglas High School. Not only did head coach Todd Fitz-Gerald and the Eagles win for the sixth straight time, beating national power Venice in the 7A state title game, but they overcame plenty of adversity to accomplish this record-setting season.
