HOMESTEAD – A day after Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna took home the Second Annual Crib Classic Invitational 7-on-7 Tournament, it was on to the second day.
The first ever Crib Classic Open 7-on-7 was held at Somerset Academy Silver Palms, and the competition was indeed impressive – with teams coming from throughout Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
When the event came to an end, it was head coach Anthony Walker Sr. and his Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace Spartans who took home the $5,000 prize, holding off Miami Carol City, 19-6, to finish on top.
This has been another productive off-season for Monsignor Pace, who traveled throughout the state once again and faced off against some elite talent all spring and summer.
The Spartans have showcased some quality talent all off-season. On Sunday, prospects were once again stepping up.
Class of 2026 seniors such as Solomon Campbell (WR/DB), Amor Coachman (DB), Khydon Collier (DB), Yashaun Lambert (DB), Evan Morgan (DB), Antonio Owens Jr. (DB) and Jordan Wooden (DB).
Junior prospects in the Class of 2027 had Tristan Barnett (DB), Jordan Fernandez (QB), Jamaal Gibson Jr. (WR), Jayden Govender (WR), Jayden Gummer (LB), Santana Pena (WR), Jayden Perera (TE/WR), Rayin Robinson (WR), Darius Rowe (DB) and Jayden Torres (WR).
The sophomore class (2028) also made a contribution with Terry Ambrose Jr. (WR), Tyler Bryant (WR), Khyner Collier (DB), Aden Francois (QB), Calique Gary (DB/WR), Zakhari Johnson (LB/DE), Matthew Priede (WR) and Mykei Wade (WR).
The incoming freshman (2029) class also has some talent with Devin Jones (QB), Antwon Gilmore Jr. (DB) and Caelin Fealy (LB).
In addition to the Spartans and Chiefs, other programs taking part in this inaugural event included Miami Booker T. Washington, Homestead, Miami Varela, Miami Westminster Christian, host Somerset Academy, Miami Ransom Everglades, Miami BridgePrep Academy, Miami Beach, Miramar Everglades and Miami Gulliver Prep.
