We are now two weeks into the 2024 high school football season and there are some prospects who are starting to step in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Because we try to shine a spotlight on every player – and not just those with the stars next to their names – football talent that may go unnoticed by fan websites is what we are all about.
During the course of a year, we will bring prospects in games, practices, camps, combines and just about everyplace that football is being showcased.
Each Wednesday during the season, we bring you five football players that everyone should know. Here is a look at the five this week:
2025 – Marcus Antelo, WR/S, 6-2, 180, Doral Academy. When you don’t have the opportunity to see talent like this perform, you are missing out on something very special. A potential big-time football player who truly has talent on both sides of the ball. As a receiver, his speed, athletic ability and knack of coming down with football has made him one of the players that schools need to check out. He is an all-around student/athlete that happens to also hold down a 3.8 GPA in the classroom. Keep an eye on his progress this season for head coach Eddie Delgado and the Firebirds.

2026 – Ethan Barosela, LB, 6-1, 215, Miami Christopher Columbus. After watching this quality talent a year ago at Miami Belen Jesuit, there was no doubting that this was indeed someone special. Playing for the two-time defending state champion Explorers and head coach Dave Dunn, this is certainly one of the most productive junior prospects – not only in south Florida, but in the state, where he is a top 100 player. This is a playmaker who finds the ball – no matter what the competition as he showed last week in a close loss to Maryland power Good Counsel where he made play after play.

2025 – Gabriel Cline, TE, 6-3, 215, Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace. Track Athlete. One of the most under-the-radar prospects is someone who not only is versatile, playing the receiver position, but he is versatile and athletic – having been part of the track program. As colleges are looking at this quality football prospect, they are watching a young man who has plenty of room to grow. Has a chance to be very special this season for head coach Anthony Walker and the Spartans. He has outstanding grades in the classroom, which also gives colleges and universities yet another reason to recruit him.

2026 - Omari McNeal, QB, 6-0, 171, Pompano Beach Blanche Ely. When the final score came last Friday night from Blanche Ely High School that the Tigers had upset national power Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, there was a sense that this shouldn’t have happened. But if you have followed this program this off-season under first year head coach Terence McFadden, it came as no surprise. Led by this impressive athlete, who actually burst on the scene two years ago as a freshman, they are no longer a secret – and either is McNeal, who many have talked about as being one of the best kept secrets. Not anymore!

2025 – Keidran Willis Jr., RB/DB, 6-0, 180, Pembroke Pines Charter. If you happen to be a coach and have a son that also plays the same sport that you are coaching, it is a dream come true for some families. For football coach Keidran Willis, the opportunity to have his son play a huge role on a team that has started the season 2-0 is indeed something that heart-warming stories are made of. In last week’s game, this two-way standout ran for 282 yards and added 31 receiving yards on offense. On defense, he had four solo tackles, five assists and two tackles for loss. Wait, there is more. He also returned a kick 73 yards. As if what he accomplishes on the football field isn’t enough, he also happens to hold down a mind-boggling 5.21 GPA in the classroom!
