One of the best times to be a football fan in south Florida will come to an end this week.
Spring football. A time when prospects can make a statement in front of hundreds of college coaches has been taking center stage in the Sunshine State from the last week of April until this coming Friday.
From all over the country, colleges and universities come to watch practices, scrimmages and games that will give them an idea of what prospects to keep an eye on during the season ahead.
While very few states have the kind of full spring that Florida has, it helps to keep this state in the spotlight as every conference at every level sends colleges down to evaluate and watch future collegiate stars.
The process will continue next week as school starts to wind down and colleges across the country will open their doors for the month of June.
Camps and 7-on-7 events will bring talent from all over the nation to schools who roll out the red carpet for players and teams.
Locally, Miami, FIU, FAU and several of the NAIA programs host daily camps to attract future players to their campus.
For the entire month, student/athletes have these memorable experiences of bonding and meeting new friends.
This week – while many other areas of the state are finished with their spring – Miami-Dade and Broward Counties will have their time in the spotlight with several games and intra-squad scrimmages that attract fans, colleges and gives the parents to see how much progress their sons have made over the past month.
