BCAA North/South Game Tonight at Dillard

It truly is the best kept post-season all-star secret around.

Tonight (7:00) at Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale, the annual BCAA All-Star Football Game will take place with talented athletes looking for an opportunity for one last game film to help in the recruiting process.

From the very beginning, well over two decades ago, the game was born from a need for more exposure for the Broward County athletes – and the BCAA jumped at the chance to help showcase some impressive talent that colleges may have missed on their trips south.

This event has certainly been huge in the process, treating the 10 days as a bowl game, giving participants a reward for what these seniors have put into their craft as well as getting it done in the classroom.

As Parkland Douglas head coach Quentin Short will lead the North, Cypress Bay second year head coach Rocco Casullo is taking the South.

Even though Cardinal Gibbons and St. Thomas Aquinas will not have players actively competing – because both will be in state championship games next week – student/athletes from those two schools were selected and recognized as well.

What the BCAA does for all of its sports programs is simply amazing. From last night’s banquet for the players, coaches, parents and cheerleaders at Signature Grand – to the many athletic and academic endeavors that are being produced throughout the year, there are few areas of the country who give back like Shawn Cerra, Rocky Gillis and their impressive team continue to provide for the student/athletes in every sport.

THE GAME WILL BE EXCITING

In any all-star game, the result is usually interesting – watching these many stars do their thing, and tonight will be no exception.
