Top 10 Matchup: Monarch and Chaminade-Madonna Tonight

While there are still some schools who opt to play an easier schedule, 6A Coconut Creek Monarch and 1A power Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna are not among them.

But of these south Florida football teams have elevated their schedules through the years and have found that the results have been positive.

These two programs will clash this evening (7:00) in Hollywood and have earned the right to be the Game of the Week.

For the 3-2 Knights, rated No. 7 in south Florida, and veteran head coach Calvin Davis, the objective all along is to be competitive in a classification that is loaded from north Florida right through to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

By opening against 2A powerhouse Jacksonville Bolles in the Broward County National Football Showcase to games at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey and Sanford Seminole, Fl. have certainly gotten this team ready for the stretch run that starts tonight against the 4-1 Lions.

For veteran head coach Dameon Jones and his No. 4 team, winning the state title is indeed a priority every year – and despite losing to national powerhouse St. Frances Academy of Baltimore – they have sharpened themselves for a ninth straight trip to the state title game.

Like Monarch this program has been tested already, and with the Knights and games against Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons and nationally rated Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas there is still work to be done.
