Since arriving at North Miami High School in 2021, Gerald Cox has been trying to get the Pioneers over the hump.

While making the state playoffs is something this program has been able to do, Cox continues to develop young players and keep them healthy.

Even they lost to Miramar and Mater Academy last season in District 16-5A play, this program still advanced to the first round of the playoffs, losing to eventual state champion Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas.

If this team is going to get to the state playoffs again, and make a strong run at a district title, it will be the experience of the rising senior (2026) class that will need to step up.

Cox and his coaching staff have brought this group along for a few years and now they are ready to step up and take that much-needed leadership role.

While the 2026 class will need to lead the way, this is a program that always has some young players to develop. There are several prospects who will be expected to make an impact.
