Ben Gula Grabs The Spotlight At FAU/FSU Event

BOCA RATON – Two years ago after his freshman season, Ben Gula began to get noticed by colleges across the country, even earning some verbal offers.

As some impressive programs came through Cypress Bay High in Weston, Gula was someone who stood out as a prospect that had size and plenty of athleticism for a 15-year-old. He was indeed a prospect for the future.

With a g=few program changes and several players moving on, Gula had a decision to make. Stay or make a move to powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna. He chose to head to Hollywood after his sophomore year for the spring.

After spending those few months with the nationally rated Lions, he decided to head back, and it paid off last year as he becomes one of the top offensive linemen in Florida, playing tackle, guard and center.

After showcasing his many skills last Sunday at the University of Miami, this 6’5, 260-pounder was now back on the map as he more than held his own in Coral Gables.

On Wednesday afternoon as Florida Atlantic University and Florida State University combined to host a camp, Gula took center stage as coaches, players and members of the media had the chance to see him perform.

As he gets set to head to the University of Colorado this Friday for an official visit, Gula made the most of his opportunity, competing in front of FAU first year head coach Zach Kittley, FSU head coach Mike Norvell and their staffs.

“All I can do is go out and make an impression,” he said. “I have worked really hard to play every position on the line.”

With offers from schools such as Colorado, Wake Forest, North Carolina State and UCF, there is no doubt that whatever school lands this quality prospect, they will certainly elevate their program.”

The event on Wednesday was broken up into two sessions as coaches from both schools watched prospects from throughout the state – all looking for a share of the spotlight.

Other Miami-Dade and Broward prospects on hand Wednesday included:
