How Vital Are Long Snappers To A Football Team? Francisco Castro Will Show You

The one thing that we will continue to do during this pandemic and throughout the 2020 season is promote every athlete in south Florida.

No matter what class they play in – or what college they have in mind, we will promote EVERY PROSPECT in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

Having the pleasure of watching more football prospects LIVE in game conditions than any other source, we discover much more than the athletes that are hyped and pushed out by every recruiting service and fan website.

Anyone can watch a film and be an “expert”, but very few can make the effort to promote prospects nobody sees or talks about by watching them play.

CASTRO PROFILE

PLAYER: Francisco Castro

POSITION: LS

SCHOOL: Miami Christopher Columbus

CLASS: 2021

HEIGHT: 6-0

WEIGHT: 205

SCOUTING: When it comes to special teams, nobody says a lot about them until a kick is missed, a punt is shanked or a snap sails over the head of a holder or punter.

But as we have all found out, you just do not win games without a special teams player who is indeed special.

For those who have no clue how much work goes into being one of the top special teams players in the country, ask Castro, who was a key part of the Explorers’ 8A state title last season.

This is someone who is regarded as one of the best long snappers in the country, and his accuracy on kicks and punts gave head coach Dave Dunn and his football program one less thing to worry about.

In addition to performing in games, this University of Miami-bound standout takes part in some of the most competitive showcases in the nation.

To fully understand those showcases, they are competitions against the best of the best – with accuracy and speed on getting the snap back to the holder or punter being the determining factor.

At last month’s Kornblue Special Teams event in Naples, Castro stepped up and was among the 5-Star recipients.

For those who take this position for granted, maybe the next time your team has a blocked kick or punt, you just may appreciate what someone like Francisco Castro means to any team.
