While south Florida has long been one of the premier regions of the country for talent, the spotlight is not always on the larger programs with years of tradition.
Take Florida Christian for example. This is a program that is in the process of turning things around and getting the recognition that it deserves.
After finishing with a 5-4 record last season and 7-3 the year before, head coach Joe Burmeister and the Patriots were ready to say goodbye to those 2-8 (2018), 0-6 (2017), 1-8 (2016), 2-9 (2015) and 4-6 (2014) seasons.
When the Patriots take the field this evening (7:30) at home against “neighbors” Southwest Miami (1-0), this team will be playing for a 4-0 record. Something that has not happened in many years.
While all eyes have been on University of South Carolina defensive line commit Jamaal Whyce (6-4, 255) and nationally-rated versatile junior athlete Antonio Robinson Jr., this team has also found a number of other prospects that have been impressive.

After missing the first two weeks of the season due to a COVID quarantine, Southwest Miami came out firing on all cylinders in a 40-6 win over Braddock.
They have a number of quality prospects and are well coached veteran head coach Donnie March and his staff.

This afternoon, No. 2 Miami Central will host Miami Springs at 3:30 at Milander Stadium.
The Rockets have rebounded from an 0-2 start against national competition.
Also, Hialeah heads south to play Miami Southridge at 7, and a very good Miami Norland team will clash with South Miami at Tropical Park at 7.
