Tri-County Championship Poll – Week 2: Teams Jockey For Top Seeds

When the first Tri-County Championship Poll was released last week, the outpouring by football teams in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach was amazing.

Programs that had not “opted in” to play for a state championship and felt left out of the mix, had suddenly watched an idea take hold – and now – as the end of November is upon us – the focus for dozens of schools, players and coaches is on this new prize at the end of this crazy season.

With all that has transpired, with Covid and quarantine, it may have a silver lining, and those football players who still need college attention, will continue to have game film – against top flight competition in three of the most talented counties in the country.

This event will culminate with playoffs and a championship in all (8A, 7A and 1A-6A) classes.

Over the next two weeks, rankings will be released - all designed to ensure that this season will be remembered and NOT forgotten.

Today, the second Tri-County Poll is released – and will change each week, leading into the playoffs.

Six high school sports writers from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach are took are part of the selection process to determine the overall rankings.

By seasons end the top two teams from each county, plus two at-large teams will compete in a Gold and Silver Bracket over three weeks of playoffs to determine the Tri-County South Florida Champion.

The Tri-County championships will be played Dec. 21-22 at a site to be determined.
