We waited months and months for the start of the 2026 high school football season, and when play begins today, the final week of the regular season will come to an end.
With the inaugural “Open Division” and several other programs going independent this year, it has been a season that many programs in Miami-Dade and Broward will use as a steppingstone to the future.
As several programs will await the start of the post season in two weeks, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday will bring to an end the 2026 football year – as many will look toward the off season.
Weston Cypress Bay (9-0) at Oakland Park Northeast (1-8), 6:30. Even though they come into this regular season finale as huge favorites, the Lightning can accomplish something that no other team in school history has done.
With a win, this program will finish as the first team ever to complete the regular season unbeaten as they head toward the 6A state playoffs.
