SPRING FOCUS – Miramar Laying A Solid Foundation

If you recall when Miramar High’s football program was at the top of the state football pile, the Patriots were a team with a true calling card – winning!

As he prepares his program for the 2021 season, head coach A.J. Scott is ready for the return of family and no individual stars.

While this program finished 3-2 during a pandemic season, there was a sense that while the seniors at least got some games in, the year was tough to build and learn from.

If the Patriots are going to succeed and regain the form that sent them to state and had them competing through the years, they will need to continue to get and keep the athletes who are often difference makers.

The Class of 2022 certainly has some impressive prospects who figure to make an impact. Football talent like Desmond Reid (WR/RB, 5-7, 170 – 2.8 GPA), Semaj Banks (RB, 5-6, 150), Claudel Bazile (DL/LB, 6-1, 225 – 3.4 GPA), Jeron Craig (LB, 5-10, 180 – 2.7 GPA), Imari Milton (DL/FB, 5-11, 225 – 3.4 GPA), Marcus Murray (LB, 5-9, 200 – 3.4 GPA), Darius Thomas (DB, 6-3, 190 – 2.6 GPA) and versatile Wayne Williamson (RB/K, 5-8, 170 – 2.8 GPA).

The rest of the 2022 class is also ready to make a statement in the off-season as well. Prospects such as Naazir Aiken (WR, 6-0, 170 – 3.0 GPA), Erik Bell (DB, 5-11, 155 – 3.2 GPA), Kenneth Brooks (LB, 5-10, 180 – 3.5 GPA), Joshua Ceus (DE, 6-1, 175 – 3.0 GPA) and offensive center Marcquan Daniels (5-10, 290 – 2.84 GPA).

The class also features talent like Clayd Ducasse (OL/DL, 5-11, 240 – 3.0 GPA), Keon Edwards (QB, 6-0, 140 – 2.89 GPA), Jacob Fequiere (OL/DL, 6-2, 240 – 3.6 GPA), Lloyd Godfrey (WR/RB, 5-5, 150 – 2.55 GPA), Daniel Jean-Charles (DL/LB, 5-7, 200 – 2.7 GPA), Mervens Jean-Pierre (LB, 5-11, 185 – 3.3 GPA), Hasani Lawrence (DL, 5-10, 210 – 2.7 GPA), Ishmael Lecounte (DE, 6-2, 185 – 2.5 GPA), Ladeldrick McGee (DB, 6-2, 170), Devin Ordonez (Athlete, 5-9, 145), Jordan Roye (DB, 6-2, 180 – 3.1 GPA), Lenz Samuels (DT/DE, 6-2, 230 – 2.9 GPA), Julian Telusnord (DT/DE, 6-3, 250 – 2.7 GPA) and offensive lineman Ayden Treasure (5-10, 266).

UNDERCLASSMEN WILL BE NEEDED

Make no mistake, when you build a team, using younger players is essential to help keep the talent pipeline flowing.

The rising junior (2023) class is indeed stacked with some impressive football players. Rising standouts like Viceme Alcime (OL – 3.3 GPA), Michael Dixon (WR, 5-11, 150 – 2.9 GPA), Loriwins Fabien (OL, 5-11, 245 – 2.7 GPA), David Francis (OL, 6-2, 220 – 3.1 GPA), Desmen Francois (DB, 5-6, 150 – 3.1 GPA), Jakobe Hastings (WR, 5-10, 158), Ty’selle Johnson (OL, 6-0, 230 – 3.4 GPA) and defensive back Kamar Lhomme (6-0, 160 – 2.6 GPA).

In addition, the Patriots have football talent with Damien Ordonez (DB, 6-0, 175), Oquan Paul (OL – 2.9 GPA), Isaiah Plaisir (LB/DL, 5-10, 230), Tre Rigby (DB, 5-8, 155 – 3.2 GPA), Matthew Robinson (WR, 6-1, 150 – 2.7 GPA) and Jeremiah Santel (WR, 6-3, 160 – 2.6 GPA).
