Plantation Looking To Stay At The Top

When the first Tri-County Football Championship Poll was released on Wednesday, a team that has everyone’s attention stood atop the 16 Class 7A teams who are competing.

Coach Steve Davis and his Plantation Colonels – who lost just twice a year ago (both to state champion and district rival St. Thomas Aquinas) are off to a 1-1 start in this pandemic-shortened season.

While tonight’s game with 2-0 Coconut Creek was called off due to Covid concerns, the Colonels will look to keep things going and remain the top team 7A program in the race for a Tri-County title in late December – while staying safe remains a major concern.

Led by University of Miami-bound standout receiver Jacolby George, this is a program that has remained consistent through the years.

In addition, this team boast offensive standouts such as seniors Devin Howard (TE), Derrick-Earl Saint Hilaire (WR), Deion Scott (WR), lineman Nickel Beauvois Jr, quarterback Cedquan Smith, Charles Ottinot (WR), Naheem Hennis (RB), Cameron Palmer (RB), Boaz Mogerand (OL), Jason Mareus (OL), Rexon Lawson (OL), Trey McLymont (OL) and Jason Frazier (TE).

There are also juniors Shomari Seymour (T), Kristopher Ratliff (OL), Jonathan Presendor (OL), Tremain Humphrey (OL), Jalen Awai (WR) and tight end Ricardo Jones.

On defense, the Colonels are always strong and aggressive. Senior linebacker Joshua Glaze is more than solid – with playoff experience a year ago. Isaiah Palmer (LB), Brian Pierre (CB), Marcus Brown (LB), Kristopher Simmons (LB), Elijah Thomas (S), Ralph Campbell (S), Deante Dohman (DB). Quewayne Patterson (DB), Gabe Elmaadawy (DB), Deshone Carter (DB), Marcus Brown (LB), Myles Weatherspoon (LB), Kenyatta Lawrey (DB), Janard Davis (DT) and Rhonden Barnes (DE) are also quality football talent.

Juniors Eric Lyons (S), Elijah Davis (DB), Shomari Knight (DB), Keyondre Young (LB), Jermarein Jeudy (LB), Herbert Dawson (DT) and Carl Anderson (DE) are also gifted as well.

There is also sophomore linebacker Nathanael Lully.
