Northwestern Looks To Rebound This Evening

When the Northwestern Bulls left Traz Powell Stadium after last Friday loss to rival Miami Central, the focus had to be squarely on Norland.

While the Vikings (2-3) are not going to throw fear into the opposition, the fact that junior running back Javin Simpkins is expected back, is enough for any team not take the Vikings lightly.

While Norland has played up and down football, this evening at Traz Powell Stadium, the 4-2 Bulls can get this thing back on track. Losses will not help their cause, especially because 6A south is loaded with teams that are capable of playing with this team.

What the rest of the regular season needs to be is on point and NO more setbacks can happen. Not if you are going to get the momentum to play against legitimate obstacles Tampa Jesuit (6-0), Fort Myers Dunbar (5-0), Naples (6-0) and South Fort Myers (5-0) perhaps on the road.

We all know that the Northwestern team that got hammered by IMG and Venice (kickoff classic) is not the program that they can be, and it showed last Friday night.

With South Miami and Carol City coming up, and with another potential showdown with Central in the GMAC Week Championship, every game needs to be played with plenty of enthusiasm and passion.

While Norland and Northwestern will take center stage tonight, there are other games that could be competitive as well:

Blanche Ely at Boyd Anderson, 7

Coral Gables at Miami High (Curtis), 7

Coral Springs Charter at Northeast, 7

Goleman at Sunset, 3:30

Hialeah at No. 9 Homestead (Harris Field), 5

Jupiter Christian at Hollywood Avant Garde Academy (Lockhart Park), 7

North Miami Beach at Miami Springs, 3:30

South Dade at No. 14 Miami Palmetto (Tropical Park), 7

Taravella at West Broward (Pines Charter), 7

Westland Hialeah at Hialeah Gardens, 3:30
